It reminds me of when I was just sixteen

I had a 1947 Dodge that my dad gave me. It was my first car. It used oil, A lot of oil, I mean a whole lot of oil.
But back in those days when a gas station changed oil in a car they would run it through something that looked like cheesecloth and put it in a one quart glass bottle. Then it was for sale for 15 cents a quart for the light color and ten cents a quart for the dark stuff. The year was 1959
It was a good deal for me with the way that Dodge sucked oil.

I guess that was some sort of them inventing "Recycling"
Ronnie

Sure. It's a year old at that point with 50 or so track passes and a whole lot of boost driving. I don't trust oil that's been sitting in an engine for a year.

I change my spark plugs and fuel filter at the same time. Rear end fluid is changed around the same time.

Yupp. Pull, inspect and replace.

This is only for my cobra btw. I take care of boosted playtoys much different than normal cars.

Dunno...it's what I do. I have three cars I change the oil on once a year regardless. My 90 does about 500 miles, cobra does about 1500 and gt does about 2500. I just don't trust filters and oil contaminants that long.

Eh, Amsoil filters and oil have been proven from numerous NUMEROUS oil samples to go even 20k miles and be fine. I know for a fact the 10k intervals are legit for a decent oil/filter. However I'm like you in that I don't trust oil that sits or goes that long. I generally do oil changes in the early spring and late fall and call it good. Winds up being 5k miles or so on the drivers.

Yupp. My dd focus I run regular dino oil and motorcraft filter. Change every 5k religiously. I do around 25k miles a year in it so I go through alot of oil. I do around 5 oil changes a year in it and price wise works out about the same as one a year of good quality synthetic. I like the opportunity to check everything else under the car though.

Still haven't talked the owner of my company out of 3k oil changes though. 22 trucks and I change gas at 3k and diesel at 5k per his request. His money, not mine. At least he now understands my hatred of fram filters.

In your case, this can be considered extreem use, and the oil change is justified.

I'm puzzled however, when I read that folks use full synthetics on a daily driver, and still think they need to change the oil every 3K these days.
