4.6 VS LS

My goal is to be able to run with , or even beat the C5 Corvette

I don't have much trouble taking the LS camaros or trans am
But remember getting spanked by a C5 when I first got my car with mods on his end.
Anyone think this is possible NA?
Or fully bolted and spraying ?

Subscribed. I love bench racing.

Spray would be the quick way for sure though

Your going against 350hp and 390tq to the crank. And the fact that they are pretty light.

My parents have a C5 which I've been in many times and even driven a few times and that thing is a beast.

The only advantage you have is your 6800 redline (it's 6k for the Vette) and the 4.10s. I believe that the Vette has a 3.40 gear or something like that. But it also has the T56 (6 speed)

100% stock the C5 will pull a 12.8-13.0 quarter mile.

Honestly If he has any motor work your toast.

You will need nitrous or boost. Won't do it NA. **** if you pull up besides a heads/cam/intake/full exhaust ls1 it will tear you a new ***. You will need alot

And I said ls1 bc of your comments on the camaro etc. The c5 if it has the same mods as I listed for the ls1. You will need full boltons/ 150 + hit of nitrous

C5 has an LS1, but they tweaked it a bit for the Vette.

4.6 VS LS

If you can beat stock Camaros and Trans ams right now then you should be able to keep to the heels of the Vette as it sits. It is a much lighter car so that's where the advantage comes in.

Considering a big cam and heads C5 can put down over 450rwhp, I don't see being able to run with a C5 as something that is effectively possible NA with a mod engine.

My H/C/I Z28 has never had any issues putting several bus lengths on any NA 4.6 (2v,3v,4v), even with the Mustang on a 100/125 shot.

Also, consider a stock base C5 is a high 12 / low 13 second car at 110+mph. Most Mustangs that do that are either a blown Cobra/Shelby or a new 5.0.

To hang with a C5, you are going to have to put down around 330rwhp or gut your car several hundred pounds. At that point it should be a drivers race, unless you have a full drag setup and are on the strip.

If you want to do this NA, swap in a 6.0L LSx, get a big cam, high flow heads and a 150 shot. At that point, you should have over 600rwhp when you need it. All without spending big money on a fully built NA 4.6 (with a 150 shot) only to fall short when you run into any LSx powered vehicle with more than an intake, exhaust and tune.

LS1 vettes were rated at 345hp / 350tq.

The LS6 was rated at 385hp / 385 tq for 2001 and 405hp / 400 tq for 2002+.

The C5 Z06 (2002+) was capable of high 11 / low 12 second 1/4 with a trap speed around 118 mph.

There is a reason the firing order of the LSx engines start with 1-8-7....
