I'm finally in the club!

Well after months of research and reading these forums, I finally took the plunge and bought my first Mustang! It's a 2013 V6 Coupe base model Automatic in Deep Impact Blue, and it's the best car I've ever driven. And I've only had it for one day!

I'm hoping I can lean on everyone here to answer a few questions I have about my new baby.

1) Can I simply add a Sirius Tuner to the factory head unit, or is it more complicated than that? I had a add on receiver in my old car but I don't want cables and the like from an external device. I want the integrated look for sure. And I can't go without my NASCAR Radio fix or The Morning Drive.

2) It came with a Ford Remote Start, not aftermarket, which is amazing. But it also has MyKey, so when I start the car using the remote start, the engine will shut off automatically when either door is opened. Can that be disabled? MyKey is a cool tech, but I will never use it myself. So if the shut off can't be disabled, can the MyKey be disabled to fix that?

I'm sure I will have more questions as the days progress but for now I guess I'll stop there.

Thanks in advance!

Congrats man!! Deep impact is def the nicest colour on fords palette (all u grabber guys can suck it haha)
Love my dib, if i had to choose a diff colour i wouldnt.
Mykey is lame, neat concept but its useless. You can turn mykey off with the steering wheel controls and the dash display, you just need to use the key that was programmed with mykey, dunno if thatll fix the remote start prob but its worth a shot! Otherwise i'd just take it to your dealer and have em fix it.

This is by far the best car I've ever owned.

I've read that you can disable MyKey and get Remote Start to work but since I don't have remote start I have no idea if it works.

Check out this thread:

remote start engine shut off fix

And welcome to the club!

I get compliments on my colour all the time. Best one ive heard so far was 2 old ladies going for a walk outside my girlfriends place, i overheard "my thats a very nice blue!" "Yes its so dark, it looks almost purple" and then they switched into a story about something blue as they walked off. Lmao

Google remote start on all ford mustangs. There is a thread that shows you how to fix the remote start issue.

I had it in my old car. Takes about 2 minutes to fix.

I couldn't copy and paste the instructions on my phone.

Congrats.

I had factory remote start on my 2011 GT, it did the same thing yours is doing. I found these instructions to the letter, it worked perfect. Did not have to disable MyKey. I do not know if it will be the same on the 2014's, but worth a try.

The remote override button is 'easy' to find. It is taped to a harness, kind of right under the steering column. The remote module is tie wrapped above the kick panel (black box). The LED is tapped to the same harness and is about 1 inch from that button (between the button and the remote start module). I found it was easier to lay my back onto my drivers seat and then slide under the dash. Once you find the override button it is easy to press while sitting in the seat. But the LED is hard to see when sitting. So this is my recommended approach:
1. sit in the car with the door closed (has to be closed to enter programming mode)
2. press and hold brake pedal (keep it pressed)
3. turn ignition key to run (one position from start which lights up all the guages)
4. reach under the dash and press and hold the override button until horn beeps 3 times (about 10 seconds)
5. after the three beeps, release the override button
6. release brake pedal
7. open the door and now lay on your back to get your head under the dash (so you can see the LED light up; it won't be lit yet, but once it is, it will be obvious).
8. press and release override button (horn beeps 4 times, indicating bank 1)
9. press and release override button (horn beeps 5 times, indicating bank 2)
10. press brake (horn beeps 1 time, indicating option 1). This is "Tach Mode". I believe the LED should be lit. This is the one I had to play with. The ture default is off, but I had to turn it on after I reset to defaults. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOURS IS ON OR OFF.
11. press brake (horn beeps 2 times, option 2). LED should be lit.
12. press brake (horn beeps 3 times, option 3). LED should be off.
13. press brake (horn beeps 4 times, option 4). LED should be lit.
14. press brake (horn beeps 5 times, option 5). LED should be off.
15. press brake (horn beeps 6 times, option 6). LED should be lit.
16. press brake (horn beeps 7 times, option 7). LED should be lit. (this is the one you need to change.
17. press and release the button on the remote start fob. the LED will go off.
18. press brake (horn beeps 8 times, option 8). LED should be off.
19. climb out and turn ignition key to off and take the key out.
20. close door and remote start your car. things should be great now.

Thanks for the advice guys, and congrats on the White Mustang. That thing looks amazing! I live how I keep getting compliments everywhere I go in it!

One other question, my car has this small box with two small antennas sucking out each side mounted at the upper edge of the windshield right against the box with the dome lights. I have no idea what it's for, I'm curious if anyone here knows.

Welcome both of you. I just got my '14 a couple days ago. I went with black. They had some insane deals down in VA on 2014 models that I couldn't pass up. This car is indeed amazing. To bad we just got 6 inches of snow here in CT.
