Speed Differences

Okay - I know that gears & tune make a big 'seat of the pants difference' but I would like to know real 0-60 and 1/4 mile times of 2.73 vs 3.31 vs 3.55, preferably with a manual transmission. Auto would be ok too, as long as it is apples to apples.

Not hiding at all. On here pretty much every day. Thanks for reminding me about the NC 13 Banner. I'll pull mine from 12 down tonight. I hate people that keep that stuff up after it is superseded kind of like people that still have campaign stickers on their cars. As for football season - I was an FSU fan for a day!

Quality thread, I've heard all the differences between the high and low end stuff, but it would be cool to know the actual differences.

I believe there is a chart online I will look up for you.

As for football: I'm an OU fan born and raised. Good game though.

Those links tell you the speed in each gears at various RPM's but they do not provide any information as to acceleration. Did I miss something?

The higher the number. The faster you accelerate

That is the right chart (exactly how I want to see it) ...unfortunately the wrong car. It is an '89 GT - 225 hp, 300 ft#. I really dont know how relative this is to S197...

C'mon 25 year old data from a 25 year old car.

It looks like the physics work out that there is little difference on the 0-60 time regardless of the ratio. I doubt that will change much from year to year. As I think about it it makes sense but is counter to what I thought I would see. Bummer.

Gotta take into consideration that the 3.73 is prob getting wheel spin and hop too esp. If the suspension is stock.

If you read the intro the guy explains that it was done at a track. He felt that if the car had better tires and suspension, it would have a much better 0-60 time.
