Need advice on a new car

So right now I have a 2000 gt ... I've been looking into getting a newer mustang. I went to the dc auto show and I saw the new mustang I didn't like it as much so I'm looking to get a 10-14 gt. I need help deciding what year I should look into and by when would it be best to get one. I just wanted to know what you guys think. I would appreciate any advice.

i think the 11-14 have the 5.0 so i'd say don't get a 10.

i may be wrong.

There are many options for you right now on the 11-12 as far as used low mile cars go. You can pick up a modded low mile (less than 10K) 11-12 for $25K. Dealers will have good deals on the 11-14 also because of the 13-14's. Lets start with the basics first.

Which year or body style would you prefer?

Auto or standard?

Base or premium?

Gear ratio preference?

Miles?

Price range?

3...2...1.....go.

^^^^ how long is a piece of rope?

idk when the best time but my guess is now would be good. It seems people like the new design which can't be helping resale values. It's winter and performance cars are not at their best in the snow as opposed to a beatiful spring day. Come next winter may be better but any gain after that would be just from it being a year older.

guess only.......

I'm in the same boat, somewhat. My question was - do I wait until the 15's are in production, or buy now? Unfortunately, I have no patience, so I'm on the hunt now.

A part of my thinking is that once production of the '14's stops, the most desirable models will be gone, quick. Dealers may see this and actually pull back on incentives.

Just my $.02.

I bought in nov and got 4k in rebates and talked them down to just above invoice.

If you wait until the new model is released I know around here they offer stupid discounts and 0% for 60. They've done this the last 2 years. The issue is your options will be whatever is left. If you have one that had everything you want then go for it.

i've read a few posts of people who do it. but it isn't a 100% match since there will be gaps around the lights.

You could just dip or use vinyl to "design" your own '13 taillights.

V6. Better overall engine than the 4.6 (technology, lighter, mpg, about the same HP, TQ #s).

Not too mention the car will have some incremental overall improvements on the s197 over the 2010 gt.

I doubt very seriously the V6 is a "better overall engine" than the 4.6. A V8 will always be worth more money and be easier to mod than any V6. I bet that anyone with a V6 if they had the chance to upgrade to a V8 they would.

I would also wait on the 2015 GT.....

305hp/280tq vs 315hp/325tq. It's not just "10hp"

That's a large enough torque difference to mention. It really comes down to preference. GT is gonna look and sound way better, plus will beat the 3.7 stock for stock.

Some prefer the 3.7 Bc it's "newer" technology but there isn't anything wrong with the 4.6.

You're not a man if you don't get the v8. No I'm kidding, but expect to get stereotypes if you pass up a GT.

Always remember there is no comparison from a V6 to a V8, more power, easier to mod, higher resell (because you will sell it one day) and it will blow the socks of those V6's but I do understand why people get V6's, insurance, initial cost etc., but if I was forced to buy a V6 I would buy a Fusion

What's stopping you from getting the 11 GT? I have a 2010 GT and my buddy has a 2012 V6, and I rip on him all the time for not having a GT. HP or not you can't get the sound and feel out of a V6 you get with a V8....ultimately I would say shoot for the 11GT it will pay in the long run if you can swing it.

I've driven both. My uncle owns a premium 2012 v6 convertible and I own a premium 2014 gt coupe. I don't regret going for the gt. I absolutely love the way it drives and sounds. It can't even be compared to the v6. Yet, the car, feels and looks exactly the same on the inside. The seats are comfortable and are fully adjustable. The matte metallic dash and chrome bezelling is a nice touch. The ambient lights are pleasant and set a sweet driving mood at night. It's hard to say which I would go for in your situation, but I feel the driving satisfaction from the gt is more fun. The interior can always be upgraded further down the line. Seat swaps are very easy and the only huge differences would be the dashboard assembly which can be upgraded if you find parts. Take your time , and if a certified pre own 11-13 shows up, you should consider that. More muscle for your money .

Just piping in, I am evidence of this phenomenon ; ). No replacement for displacement and all that jazz.

Peanut Gallery -> I LOVED my 2012 v6, but even with all the work I did on it I still got the V8 bug. The V6 is a pretty excellent piece of engineering and I'm interested in seeing what they do with the turbo 4 in the 2015.

As good as the V6 is though, the 5.0 is still one of the most incredible engines I've ever driven. Every day is a pleasure, every new tweak makes it just a little bit better.

Edit: I'll be waiting for the 2016 :3
