2011+ painted Brembo calipers

I'd like to see some pics of painted Brembo calipers, I'm about to tackle this project soon. I got some calipers off another 13 GT. If u can also state what type paint was used and process. I got pretty much all I need, just need some motivation to start Click image for larger version

I had a race red 11' V6 that had just the basic brakes but I painted them using just the regular red caliper paint that you get from Walmart, Autozone, Discount Auto Parts, etc. Both Rustoleum and Dupli Color worked great. Either one is a close enough shade of red that it does not clash with the color of the car. Both are ceramic paint, similar to powder coat, very hard to mess it up.

Easy job since the calipers are already off the car. Tape off the very inside of the caliper with green or blue painters tape. Wipe them down with 90% rubbing alcohol using a lint free microfiber cloth and they are ready for paint. Start spraying from one end to the other, even and steady motion. The goal is cover the caliper with several light even coats. Wait 10-15 mins in between each coat, let the final coat dry for an hour.

The calipers on my car looked great for over a year using the above method.

Sanding, heating, priming is not necessary.

Now, I suppose you are concerned about the brembo logo already painted onto the caliper. No worries. I traded my 3.7 in for a 14' track pack 5.0 and it has the same Brembo calipers on it. Here is what you do. Paint the calipers as you normally would, covering up the logo. Next thing you do is grab a set of these:

Awesome!! Already got them cleaned up, now I'm gonna mask them, and hopefully get started this weekend. I would've started weeks ago, but it's been so fracking frigid lately, that I lost my mojo. I'm using VHT high temp in red, and also high temp clear, also got the stickers from eBay. I'm also coating the rotors in the areas that rust, with satin black paint. Hardest part is getting in the mood, with this arctic nightmare we've been going thru -_-

I'd say black calipers, with silver Brembo decals, it should flow nicely

Neither did I, that's actually ur best bet. Just search for some Brembo takeoffs, that's what I found and since they're off u can do whatever ur heart desires, since u don't have the stress of putting ur car on the shelf. Or of u paint the stocks black, I think changing the color of the regular calipers is tacky, I'd rather add colored caliper covers b4 I do that.

True. How much do those Brembos run used?

I got mine for $725 shipped, it had maybe 7k of use. Realistically it'll be between 700-800 if u get it shipped to u. Package would be around 80 lbs. that would be if u get the calipers, rotors, brake lines and dust shields. I would consider myself lucky since these aren't easy to find. I think I saw factory take offs on eBay for $1000, think they include the rear brakes, which are probably unnecessary.

A little before and after. The color is a dark charcoal metallic, silver ebay decal, and a red CS. High temp clear over everything. Used bbq grill and stove paint on the rotor. Everything is holding up nicely.

How about some cheesy fake brembo caliper covers?

Yuk. I almost puke when I see them installed over stock calipers. Who do these folks think they are fooling?

The Brembo covers yes, that's stupid. The MGP covers are not bad at all, I'm modding my rears to match the fronts. Painting letters blackClick image for larger version
