Max hp on stock motor

What's up guys?

I'm about to buy the hellion twin turbo set up for my 2013 gt/cs. How much power can the stock motor handle before a rebuild? I was read that you shouldn't go more than 650-700 hp. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I plan on running 5-7 lbs of boost.

Look around, there's always somebody pushing a stock block to 1000 horsepower, the question is who. Usually a shop or someone with DEEP pockets playing this game. Anything over 600 is going to dramatically affect lon-term durability. Everything has to play together just nicely at that level. One bad tank of gas or a tiny shot of boost creep or similar can pop the party balloon, as you've consumed all the safety margin engineered in and more.

BTW, turbos are fantastically good at wrecking things if not very carefully tuned and set up.

Thanks for the advice, I do not plan on going cheap on the tune. I will not be using hellions base tune either. However, I'm not building a race car either, this mod is more for show than go.

Find a reputable shop that has a bunch of tuning experience with the 5.0. A guy over on SVTperformance is running the hellion TT kit at around 6psi I believe which is in the "safe zone" of these motors. However, like stated before one hicup and KABOOMMMM

Anything close to 650-700 is dangerous sure people do it but at a risk . Low boost aim for 600 and plan to change out fuel system for safety

My plan is a safe 550-600ish HP with a paxton. I understood that much more than that would require building up the bottom end and forged pistons/connecting rods. Is this still the consensus?

If it were me getting the hellion kit, I'd spring for the forged internals gratis - especially if I planned on her running for another 30-50k without a major rework.
