Seeing what others paid really makes me mad. I have gotten prices from 2 dealers in metro Atlanta. Both were $1,400. That's why I haven't done it yet.

I already have the parts from AM and it says install time around 4 hours. The shops around here usually charge around $80/hour. That should only be about $350-$400. That why i think the mechanic i went to is over pricing.

I am pretty handy but from what I know, there are special tools involved and shimming the gears has to be perfect, etc. so as not to have any whining. I feel it is a job left to professionals. FYI - there is a video I saw on youtube that is pretty thorough. From what I remember it is about 12 or so minutes long. Watch it and see if you still want to do it. it changed my mind.

ON the post about $1400 gear install. Your Ford dealer should not be ripping you off like that. Go to two others, putting a Ford Racing Gear Set at a Ford dealer should never cost more then $900 TOPS with all new bearings and every new items.

Otherwise they are farking you and Ford wants to know those that do fark customers. You go tell your dealer that as well.

As I said, that was pricing from TWO different dealers. I think I need to reach out to some that are a little further away - away from the metro area....

Not sure what you are talking about. Changing final drive gears is the exact same in a manual or auto...

I'm looking forward to seeing these!! Because I'm hoping the 5.9 0-60 times won't be identical for an auto 3.7 with 4.10's lol

I am wanting to do a gear change in my 14'. I have stock 2.73 and trying to decide if 3.55 or 3.73 are the way to go and why? I travel about 100 miles a day commute and mostly interstate. I would like to know the difference between stock and the gears mentioned.

Whoa - what many fwy miles, I'd do at most the 3.31's for a bit more performance. The higher gears ( lower numerically) are better for cruising mpg. If you take it to the track, there's justification for 3.55's or 3.73's, but you would be kicking yourself if it's only your daily driver.

From 3.55 gears...
70mph with cruise in 5th gear 1,900rpms doesn't waste gas, and it's supercharged...

I went from 2.73 to 4.10 in my 14 auto with stock 18 rubber and couldn't be happier. My MPG increased as well because I do mostly city driving. I wouldn't go anything else but 4.10 in our cars because the low end is where we hurt the most

Interesting, thanks for all the work put into this btw.

Looks like I'll be getting the 3.55 or 3.73s.
