1996 Ford Mustang GT 4.6 auto to Trans swap

Hello everyone, I'm about to get my first mustang and I was wondering everyone's opinions, I want to have a manual Mustang. I think it brings out the fun side of the car, so I'm not bored when driving around town, I'm actually occupied! So I need your opinion. For a stock 1996 Mustang GT, should I do a manual or keep it a automatic. And if I do a Manual tranny swap, what kind of transmission do you recommend. And to think in the long run, if I do a future mod such as a procharger would it be better for a auto or manual transmission? Thanks for the replies everyone! Sincerely, Cole.

Well doing a manual swap on a 96 GT involves changing the computer to a manual one and if I remember right you may need to but a new harness as well (don't quote me on that). What kind of transmission you want really depends on the application you're gonna use it for. Is it gonna see some track time or just be a street warrior? I love driving a manual every day and wish I had a six speed to be honest

I'm not for sure what I would get, my brother suggested a t-45 but I would like to take it drag racing sometimes 11-12 Seconds 1/4th mile, but also would like to have a good street car!

Well it's gonna take a good amount of work to be running 12s with a car like that. The factory T45s aren't the strongest transmissions in the world, but at stock power levels they work just fine

I don't know much about what would apply to your situation but if manual I would go T56 or TKO600 and if auto then I would go 4R75W (j-modded+ 04 computer) or C4
