Windstar the best mod for the Mustang

So here it goes
Basic facts:
The 99-03 Mustang came with 190 hp 210 tq
The 96-03 Windstar came with 200 hp 240 tq 96-98/99-04 have different intakes
Both are 3.8s
What is the difference?
Yes, you got it. The intake is the only difference.
I am doing a 2003 Windstar swap. If enough people are interested I will post how to do it with step by step instructions. Most people do not do this year because it sets 2 inches taller than the factory intake.
This intake has the snake runners like the new 5.0s and require the least modifications. But there are a few.

I think it will cost me $150-200. I got the intake from a pull apart recycle center for $30 and the throttle body for $20. I bought a throttle spacer for 55 and have to take it to a welder if I want to put it on. That will scrap the Windstar tb. Tom. I got to make sure no egr delete.

It looks like the egr can stay(got to measure height tom.) and the header core hose has to be moded slightly. A cork gasket for the throttle body has to be made and is ordered. Outer than a 4.2 throttle cable and making a coil pack bracket that is it.

Them are the factory crank hp. and tq. This 411 is also stated on VAPauto.com. I am not saying go race one. The Mustangs diet will give you the advantage.

torque rating was 220ft lbs and the 225 ft lbs 01-03(?) more than 210 anyway. VAP no longer sells the windstar "kits"

That is the 3.0 220tq 150 hp
One guy on Mustangforms.com is doing the same mod. and he said it gets better flow numbers. I am planning for the future.
2003 Ford Windstar Base Passenger Minivan 3.8L V6 4-speed Automatic Features and Specs
It will look like this. I can not tell if the egr is too high.No one has any tech 411 on this mod. I guess the 4.2 intake comes off tom. to know if I need to order the egr delete kit from VMP tuning.

I hope u can use the 4.2 intake. I am almost done gathering parts for the windstar swap. I am picking up a complete 4.2 (with a rod knock) this week for $100 complete everything. Later down the road, after a hood, I may swap for this same intake...

I got a 4.2 intake, it works. You will need to use a Cobra racing hood and the iac will rub against the top of the hood. I do not like the intake because it does not respond well at 1500 rpms with a tune. You should will have the same problem with a 4.2 engine. But truckers with 4.2 engines convert to the Windstar and gain hp. and tq.
This is what convinced me. Check out the flow numbers ported and polished. The bends are the weakness in our flow numbers.

EDIT: Are you talking about the lower intake?

The f-150 lower has the valves also. The new Windstar has the valves. But, it opens from forced air instead of electronically.
4.2 upper intake install:
I used a 4.2 aftermarket cold air intake.
Reversed the 3.8 throttle cable bracket.
Extended the tb and iac wires. Coil pack wires too, if moved.
I do not remember all the air hoses size.
Kind stupid, but don't forget the ac/heater/blend door vacuum lines
Run them to their own line and do not split it or your blend door will open at low rpms.

My 94 mini build: split port 4.2L & 99 windstar intake - Ford Mustang Forums
I found someone who attempted it and quit. Learned nothing new. It's been to cold to take the upper off and see if the egr has enough clearance.
