4.6 or 5.0 coyote for my 2000 Gt

Been thinking of replacing my engine and starting fresh, I can get a brand new 4.6 from ford or I can pay extra and do the coyote swap, would it be worth doing the coyote engine or just sticking with my 4.6l and rebuilding that engine up?

If you have the money to do it, get the coyote. But remember, it's gonna cost upwards of 10 grand when you're done.

If you are going to do it all at once the Coyote is a no brainer. I'm seeing the pullouts starting to come down in price a little too btw, like the $4k range for the engine. Put a Magnum or a nice automatic behind it and go.

You will need a lot more stuff than just the engine. As another poster said, its going to run near $10k when all is said and done. Research the swap using the google, she knows much.

No, if your even going to attempt that it would just be easier to trade up! Changing the 4.6 to a 5.0 coyote would be one hell of a project and a lot of $$$$. You also need to remember that 4.6 chassis is not the same and you would run into alot of fitment issues. Imo just trade up.

The trade up would be a much better option IMO, and the chassis is much improved. I'm not saying its not possible to do the swap but it would be a huge project.

This swap is not for beginners but is not as complicated as ppl are making it out to be. The motor itself will go right in, its the wiring/harness and all the "gotchas" that are a pain from what I have seen from these swaps.

There are plenty of swaps that have been accomplished at this point and a pretty good knowledge base on it, you just have to search.

I did a 1988 t-bird swap from a 3.8 to a 5.0 and I can tell you its a pretty long process and they were identical chassis. I can't say for certain but I'm going to guess that a 5.0 into a 4.6 body isn't going to be as simple as taking the 4.6 out and plopping the 5.0 right on the existing mounts. Could be wrong though.
