That's all a matter of personal preference. You also didn't mention whether you have Streets or Competition. Streets are a lot deeper and tamer than Comps. I love my Streets, but what I or someone else likes doesn't mean that's what you want. You have to figure out what sound you are looking for. YouTube is a good start.

Totally personal preference. I have Roush and are very loud, not for everyone for sure but I love them and that is exactly what I was looking for. One of the biggest mistakes I see some people do is not doing enough research. Also you have to know exactly what kind of sound and volume your looking for. If you want race car obnoxious loud you will love them, if you had to hesitate at that for a split second.....don't get them you won't be happy and be looking to sell them. Hope this helps.

I had pypes, roush then some resonators. Now I'm at flowmaster 40's and want to do short headers so I can get rid of the snake his they give off. It's cool but needs to be deeper. I like hearing my cam lope is why I got them.

Hey CDOO

I have Magnaflow streets and like them a lot. If you have them and you think they are not loud enough or don't sound good. You need to stand outside the car and let a trusted friend drive it around the block so you can really hear what it sounds like.
The thing is the streets are not loud and obnoxious when your inside the car due to the deeper rumble and not the raspy loud obnoxious sound that will vibrate and drone inside of the car.
Like everybody say's "Do your research
Ronnie

I almost went with the 40s, there is a guy on you tube that has LTS, cattless x, and 40s and imo sounds amazing! My wallet decided to just get shorties, gears, tints and the upper and lower billet grille with the trii bar pony for now, but I might still get that set up next year.

All great points. Best to decide on your personal taste (and perhaps your neighbors) for loud, then go with that. I chose to attend a few local shows and listen first hand to the sound of the exhaust note. The owners were glad to start their cars and let me listen.

I went with a set of GT500's.

OP,

Let us know exactly which Mustang model/year you have. Also, what other (if any) exhaust mods have been installed. Which Magnaflow axleback do you have?

I'm assuming you're looking for a more aggressive tune and volume, since you're considering the Roush axleback. However, there's other ways to get a more aggressive tone with your current axleback. Such as upgrading the midpipe to an aftermarket Xpipe with highflow cats or even catless!

Give us some more details and we'll be able to point you in the right direction!

Shane
