Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.........

I am really having a hard time here. Here's my dilemma, at the end of the month, I will have funds to buy the mustang that I've always wanted. This will be our third vehicle, so it will mostly be enjoyed on weekends. That being said, my wife wants a convertible. I agreed, so that's been decided. Here's the problem, I've narrowed it down to either a LX 5.0 fox, or a '99-'01 Cobra.

Fox body pros: Soon to be a collector? I love the look of a lowered fox. Easier to modify and find parts for.
Cons: Less power in stock form than the Cobra, weak brakes, less comfortable for cruising?

Cobra pros: More powerful, more comfortable, it's a Cobra.
Cons: More expensive to modify and find parts for, not as collectible yet? Not as unique. I certainly see more 99-01 mustangs than I do foxes.

I am 42 yrs old, don't know if that will sway your opinions any.
So, give me some opinions, or any advice. Please only give advice/opinions on the models mentioned, I don't think I could mentally handle any more options......lol!

Some folks have already chimed in on my other thread, and I appreciate it, but that was before I narrowed the field to these two.

Thanks,

Chris

I hate to ask this, but would everyone mind giving your age? I just want to see if the younger generation goes for the Cobra, and us older folks go with the Fox, as I suspect. If you don't want to give your age, no worries.

22.

The fox is nice and everything and it's a rarity to see one stock now.

But I don't like the way a convertible fox body looks like I think it's ugly.

I say a cobra convertible. Tune ups are easy on a 4.6 (mine is at least lol)

It looks 1000x better with the vert too, and it's newer

Well, my wife and I had a rough day. After talking to the guy with the Cobra, and looking at the pics over and over, we drove 3 hours to go get it. It was a '99 with 88k miles, and in excellent condition. A 9 out of 10 or better the guy said. He wanted $9800, and said he'd had offers that were over his asking price, but he wanted me to have it.......lol! That was the first sign of BS. When we got there, the car was junk! Chips and scratches that had been horribly touched up. Coolant leaking out of the overflow, doors popped and creaked when you opened them, bezel around the radio broke in two places, smell of burnt oil was strong. While driving, there was a "clunk" when going into 1st, and when you pushed in the clutch to make a turn, the rpm's hung around 3k. I was very disappointed to say the least. I insulted him by offering him $6000, made the 3 hour drive home, and now this is sitting in the driveway!Click image for larger version

Thanks, yep, 1990 with 101k miles. All stock, and very tight. This thing drives almost like new. I am very pleased with my decision.

I love that color. I had a 92 lx vert that was similar to the color of yours but the molding was painted.

When it comes time for a new top, I think I'll go with black. Other than that I like the color also. What happen to yours?

I sold it about 12 years ago. It had black interior and top lowered with the pony wheels. After seeing this one I wish I still had it.

I have always loved the fox body. I may try to pick up some different wheels for this one. I'm thinking the '93 cobra wheels for it.
