Do you insure your upgrades

I have never really put allot into upgrades until now with my 2013. I was wondering if allot of you get the extra insurance coverage to cover the upgrades you do. Since my 2011 was totaled it has me thinking.

With my insurance company, all of my mods are insured on my Z28. All I had to do was have them come and inspect it and provide receipts of everything that has been done.

Same thing with both of my race quads and my bike.

I pay $20/mo on my 98. If it gets wrecked or hit to the point where I don't feel its worth fixing I'll use it as a donor car. Maybe find a 4 banger notch that some old person drove to church once a week for 20 years and do a modfox...

Well, after putting so much money into myast car only to lose it all because I only carried liability I now carry full coverage and will be insuring all my mods. If I totalled this car I wouldn't get much because its an 89 but with 15000$ worth of recipepts or more I should get a lot more if I happen to total it. I was actually talking to my insurance agent last Friday about this.

Eh... not worth it for me since the last owner did most of the mods to this one. Like I said, if I wreck it I'll use it as a donor and buy the cheapest clean body car I can find. If I had $15k into a car and it was totaled I'd save all I could and swap it. Not like v6 SN95s/Edges aren't a dime a dozen. And like I said you can still find 4 banger stangers in good shape if you look. But I get what you guys are saying, I probably would call USAA just to see how much full coverage would cost on a modded 98. I am saving all my receipts since I've had the car so if nothing else I can have a stack of documentation to hand to any prospective buyer if I sell.

As long as you have the receipts you are good. I mean even without you could likely insure it for a certain amount you specify they'll just come up with a number that they'll charge you every month to match the value.

I call my insurance company every time I put any parts that are not factory on. Rims are the biggest ones to insure. So far, all my insurance company has said, keep a list of what you have on, labor and sales tax.

I did ad my upgraded wheels for $2.00.

Insurance is already up my *** in price since i'm 19 (only liability + comprehensive... No collision). I don't think i'd want to see what the price would be with full coverage + mods.

What I wonder, is if you wreck a $2k value car with $5k worth of insured upgrades and they pay out X value... do you have to buy back the upgrades and at what discounted price do you get to do that? Because if they make you pay used value prices for your parts I'd rather just not insure them, buy the car itself back and then re-use them on something else. But I guess its better safe than sorry if some jackass like REALLY totals your car and wrecks everything. I just need to see how it works without receipts.

Well I spoke with my agent yesterday and I can insure everything that the p/o did because I have all the receipts. On the down side, my monthly payment goes up about 30$ for every 5k worth of parts. And my car has about 15000-17000$ worth of receipts. Needless to say that I will have to wait till I find work before I can add 100 a month to my ins.
