2015 gt or 2011 gt500?

I currently own a 2011 v6 vert, and I'm planning on selling it to buy a 2015 gt premium later this year when it becomes available. My big dilemma was wether I wanted it black or grey but that has changed to a bigger decision. For the price of a 15 gt I can buy myself a 11 gt500. I'm planning on using it as a DD and I'm not planning on modding it out. Which would be a better choice?

Well it depends on what you prefer. From what I've seen, the 2015 is going to be, all around, a higher quality Mustang (talking primarily about the interior). But it wouldn't have the power that the Shelby has. As a DD, I'd definitely say the GT.

The bolton 5.0's will beat a 07-12 by500 easily. The 7-12 by500's are slow infill they get a blower swap

Yeah that's the reason why I wanted a 15 gt, but something about that Cobra badge is making this decision very difficult. If these were between a 14 gt and a 11 gt500, I would get the gt500 in a heartbeat. I would rather much tell people I own a shelby gt500 than a 15 gt, but the gt is going to be new, have warranty, and have cool new features.

Fords on a roll these days, the gt500 is sweet but I would hold out to see how the 15 rides and performs. You dont want to end up like the poor guys that bought a new 98gt or 2010gt

If you're not modding, I'd say the Shelby (as it doesn't really need much modding).

As a DD though, I'd be a little more meticulous ab keeping it in good condition. You'd probably spend a little more money on upkeep with the motor and exterior. Don't wash it with bath towels and dish soap, spend $200 or so and buy some quality detailing supplies. Maybe later (if kept in good condition), you can sell the Shelby private party and pick up a used 15' or new 18' Mustang GT.

I'm telling you the 07-12 gt500 are SLOW. Unless you do a blower swap

But Rap, we're talking stock for stock here as the OP doesn't intend to do any modding. You'd still suggest the 15'?

They might be "slow" but they're still badass and it's my dream car...well the latest gt500 is my dream car, but a few years older is good enough.

The 15 looks awesome inside. The outside is ugly. If you haven't seen one in person. If your staying stock that's a hard choice. Looks wise I would go for the gt500. Performance the 15 5.0

I see. I'm absolutely in love with the S197, so I have to say I'd choose the Shelby. I'd also love to have a 14' Shelby but I'd take a 10'+.

I know nothing about modding and that's why I don't want to add mods to my car. But the idea of adding a supercharger or a twin turbo interests me, how much would a decent supercharger or twin turbo cost me in total? Including the labor costs

To say that the gt500 is slow I think is a little ridiculous, it's fast any which why you look at it and if the OP is going to just DD and not mod and is in love with the gt500 why not get it? It's gunna be faster then a stock '15. Plus it will holds it's value more if kept in good condition.

They put down nice #'s but the 07-12 need a blower swap bad. The only thing I do not like about the 15 is how they look in person. They are far from a mustang now

...your trying to argue that the gt500 is not fast but I'm comparing it to a stock gt and your gunna try and say that it's not faster? That's mind boggles me a little bit.

Like I said you have a lot to learn. Take a bone stock 07-12 gt500 to the track 100% stock and a 11-14 5.0 100% stock with good drivers and I promise you the 5.0 will outrun it 4 out of 5 runs

Obviously. Like I said you have a lot to learn. The 5.0 have been 11.9's 100% stock off the show room floor. The gt500 is going to spin it's *** off and never hook up stock.

Sounds like you need to watch some videos of stock gt500's on the track, like you said with a good driver

I'm not talking about the 13-14. The 07-09 body style gt500 is a turd. Heavy and slow. Needs a blower swap. The 10-12's are a lot better but still nothing impressive without at least full exhaust and a pulley.

Oh and I'm going to be 19 at the time of buying so I have to take in account that I'm going to have to pay an even more ridiculous amount of insurance, but it isn't a game changer. Also the gt500 will cost me ~43k while the gt premium will hopefully cost me ~35k if the msrp doesn't change. Those few grand could be used for upgrading the gt with better brakes and recaro seats.

If u go with the gt500 get a 11 or a 12. The 15 5.0 will be stupid quick with just exhaust and a tune and some good tires.

I saw a 15 5.0 at the Dallas auto show and it's definitely smaller. Just not a fan of how they look.

You mean since they're give or take 200 pounds lighter with a stronger coyote?
