Rear GT Emblem

I have a 2010 GT. It has the crappy plastic decklid panel on the back which keeps falling off and has faded. So I took it off, got all the glue and crap cleaned up. I want to just put the fake gas cap back on with an MMD surround. Thing is, the 2010 comes with the fake cap imbedded into the decklid panel, it cannot be a stand alone piece. Has anyone seen a 2010 WITHOUT that panel, Id like to get the correct fake cap that can be installed without a decklid panel.

Well you can't get rid of it completely, there is a bump out under the panel with holes.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking, you want the decklid to be blacked out with the gas cap completely gone, or body color with gas cap gone?

On the 13'+s there's holes all over the decklid vs the 10-12s. You can buy the RTR decklid panel and either keep it black or have it color matched

I just want a custom emblem instead of the GT... might consider the decklid panel when I get ready to spend the money

What do you guys think about Plasti dipping the deck lid and emblem flat black then coloring the "GT" only in the fake cap the color of the car?

Is that what your looking for, no deck lid with the faux gas cap?

Good to hear! I'm glad you're all squared away. Did you end up going with the MMD Emblem surround also? I run this on my 2011 GT and absolutely love it. It really does change the entire rear section of the car!

Let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance in the near future!

Hoping you guys have some vendors that will start coming up with good ideas for the 13-14 decklid. Hate it all. Want flat black and black car. Like the RTR but not the idea of cutting 6" hole in trunk.

FYI, plasti dip did NOT go well on the deck lid. 4 coats.. lightly sprayed down few days later and started peeling right off.

I ditched the decklid and bought a new fake cap, painted it gloss black and it looks sweet. Didn't use the MMD surround. Disregard dirty bumper, LOL.

The problem with the 13-14 is that you really can't get rid of the black surround. there are mounting holes throught the trunk. I also dont like the gloss. Do like the RTR painted flat black, then maybe matte coat the tail lights. Not a big fan of cutting a 6" hole in trunk though. Still leaning towards a local shop. They gave me a quote of $240 to buff the deck lid to drop the gloss, then matte spray the entire deck lid/tail light section. Any other thoughts people post I would love to see/hear. Hoping AM and MMD come up with something good. Either way i will post what i do
