Im using a v6 on purpose because i want to start out with a very cheap mustang thats somewhat less popular and appears less powerful so tht i can afford to have a nice project car that is unique and turns heads and also has better gas mileage at the same time when ive built up all the appearance im gonna take the interchangeable parts and put them in a 98 cobra when i can afford it i got my car for 800 bucks so its a good start

Long post - good read I promise.

'Better with gas mileage' is very debatable. My 10' GT gets ab the same as my 06' V6 got, provided I don't drive it hard (which is a lot harder to do with the additional power at my foot vs. my V6).

For the old V6's, there's not much performance potential there. Tune, CAI, and dual exhaust conversion is where you'd want to start (in that order). Should wake up the car's fun factor and get a little better MPG. For cosmetic mods, just keep it clean and classy (don't put GT or Cobra badges on, etc.). Maybe start with some rims and tires.

How many miles on the car? You might want to consider 'sea foaming', changing all filters, spark plugs and wires, replacing all fluids with new fluids. I'd definitely tackle all of the maintenance work first before any mods to have the car running in tip-top shape and be reliable.

A V6 mustang will never be impressive or cool to the mustang enthusiasts who have the V8 mentality. It wouldn't matter if your V6 runs 10 seconds flat in the 1/4 mile and you had 600 HP. The mentality of many is you got a v6 in a mustang.

Now , to answer your question! Heck yeah you can make your pony impressive. You have an iconic mustang bro. How is the body and paint? A good full detail of compound, polish and wax can help bring your paint looking like it stepped out from the factory. You could invest in some exterior appearance mods. You may get some hate and questions like why are you bothering too mod a v6. Just put the money into a V8 instead of a secretary's car.

Don't pay attention too them kid. What type of power were you looking to get from your V6?

I Will gladly give props a standing ovation and a firm handshake to anybody who can make a v6 new edge a 10 sec car. That being said you have to build the engine full bolt ons and head work just to have as much hp as a stock GT. Also I think gt might have better gas mileage as it's better at laughing that heavy car around lol. But build up the six dude I need some good reading and a new build thread

Lol. What year Gt were you thinking if he built his V6 up? The other issue is how much money is it gonna cost to build the engine, put full bolt on mods and get head work? How much is this guy gonna drop into that in order to get all that work? The biggest issue is those older v6's don't have good power from the factory. Its not like the 3.7 where your starting block is 305 HP and with bolt on mods your up too 350 HP.

It may be better for the OP too work on appearance mods rather than heavy performance mods.

See, that's what I was thinking. My thoughts it would cost so much money that it just wouldn't be worth it too drop that kind of coin into.

It would be better for OP to do some bad *** exterior mods a nice sound system.. And save up and build an engine in the side or something if that's what he wants to do

V6s are trash I eat them up in my razor scooter! Lmao. Jk jk!!
U got the car for cheap so that's a good start & a V6 can still look BA with the proper appearance mods! U can also learn to mod like doing light mods just to make it a little more fun to drive! But if ur goal is to sell it & get the cobra I would just save the mod $ & put it toward getting the cobra!

The mustang below is a V6. A lot of work done to it and probably cost quite a bit to get there but man does it look sexy. I think it belongs to someone on ME, but I can't remember who.

That does look amazing. I bet dude spent some coin on those appearance mods. Looks great. It just goes too show if you drop enough money into it, you can make a lot of stuff look awesome.

Im not sure what year the OP's V6 is but a big question would be what does the paint and body look like? What's the shape of the paint. One can drop 4 K into appearance mods but if the cars paint is in desperate need of a new paint job then the car is still gonna look not so cool.

Perhaps a good detail with compound , polish and wax will bring the paint back to its near original shine. I see a boat load of older mustangs from 2002 and under that the exterior looks like a$$.

If you go to the link there's a "Cost" tab at the top and you can see how much it all cost and where the parts came from. The guy did one hell of a job documenting everything.

Yeah that's a big question, OP can you post some pics of your ride? If the paint is in rough shape a Plastidip paint job might be the remedy in order to save some $$. I think a full paint job with plastidip by a shop runs ~$500, which is a lot less than the thousands it will cost for a new paint job.

V6s can absolutely look amazing. In my opinion I find most V6 owners make their cars look much better than GT owners ( not all )

The interior looks real nice. The exterior doesn't look bad from the picture but up close and in person could be another story. Do you think a full detail of your entire cars paint with compound, polish, wax would bring it back to an almost showroom finish ?
