Suspension or performance

I have $1700 to burn, what do I do? I was originally planning on going with BC Racing coilovers, LCAs with relocation brackets and an adjustable panhard bar. Now that I've seen TX2k14 videos, I'm thinking Kooks 1 7/8" longtubes with a shorty O/R x-pipe. Both leave room for labor costs (install on LTs or alignment on suspension). Everything listed is on my list of wants, I'm just having a very hard time deciding which should be first; power/sound or lowered/traction.

Remember ... with Power ... you have to add suspension. The more power you add then the more parts are needed to keep the power planted.

I would suggest the best of both worlds.

Best Regards,

TJ

No point adding power if you can't put it to the ground. Do suspension.

I was thinking that was the better of the two ideas. I would do wheels/tires too if it were in the cards. The stock Pirellis are already giving me grief with traction control still on.

Also, how much of a drop is safe with the stock UCA? I can't find any install videos, and read a review that said the fuel tank needs to be dropped to replace the bracket. I was hoping to go 1.75" drop with the BCs but don't know how much that would upset the pinion angle.

I have a similar set up of sorts to you and for what it's worth I am definitely going with suspension next. Already getting plenty of wheel hop and such. LCA, UCA and other stuff will help transfer the power. You could actually do what i am looking at which is Eibach Pro System plus and LCA and UCA. or pretty close. I have a daily driver so thats why not going totally hardcore on suspension

Mine is a DD as well, but I had BC coils on my last car and didn't mind the harshness. That car was also much lighter (2300lbs wet), so it might be a little softer in a heavier car. I also love hitting auto-x events whenever I can.

I like the results of that kit, I can't imagine a Mustang pulling over 1g on a skid-pad lol, but was that with the sport or ultralite springs? I would go with ultralites and add strut mounts to the kit, but then I would still need lower control arms.

That was with the sport springs.

Would you like me to start running numbers?

Best Regards,

TJ

You need SUSPENSION first, then PERFORMANCE. If you can't keep the car on the road, all the horsepower in the world will be worthless.

Suspension, Exhaust, Brakes, Tires and Engine.

I'll need wheels/tires before brakes to make sure the brakes will fit. I hate the stock wheels and tires anyway.

Ksconvert,

What is your email address? Also, are you looking for a complete package like the video or the springs, mounts & LCA's. Send it either P.M. or to tim@steeda.com.

Best Regards,

TJ
