Well, I don't want to argue with you either, just letting you know that it has been referred to as a 64 1/2 since I was a kid, and I was born the same year the Mustang was released, 1964.

I understand that, and that it will continue to be, me and todyos were on different ideas, I was going by what ford intended, she's going by what collectors term it as, obviously if I'm actually talking to someone and they say they had a 64 1/2(happened about 2-3 weeks ago) I wouldn't say, nope, it's a 65.

Here's an interesting page with more info. It also mentions the Mustang emblem being a different length. Guess I do remember some things from high school even if it was from a Car Craft magazine during study hall! Ha!!

I'm not highjacking, just simply responding to your posts, so therefore you are the thread jacker.

Why don't you take your advice and go to bed.

The 1965 Mustang was released in April of 1965. The 2013 Mustang was released in April of 2012. But it wasn't it called a 2012.5.

Also, ad hominem fallacies never ever help an argument.

And finally, if you were Ford, would you really use the old Mustang for a brand new special edition? How the hell would that sell? "Buy this 2014.5 which is essentially a old 2014 with some chrome bits or you could wait three months and by the new one." Toydos, we know that you have some resentment for the 2015 so I understand why you started this thread. But to address our original topic, no. No it should not be the S197.

^^^^ The S197 is a significant car for FORD , a 2014.5 as the 50th IMO , a logical honor.

This thread has become the epitome of beating a dead horse. Ford made a logical business decision for the 50th by using the 2015. The '65 ('64.5) was their introduction of a new car, so of course the 50th would be their introduction of a new body style, new engine option, and Ford's more direct part in overseas sales. I agree that the S197 is an amazing platform and it's more than deserving of the honor, but the 2015 makes more sense from a business standpoint.

Sent from the future.

And when the Mustang first debuted!.. It was introduced as a '65!.. Not a '64 or '64.5!.. So in reality the 2015 is the 50th Anniversary model!.. Just Saying

Which is why I said we're beating a dead horse. This thread has become the same two onions being thrown back and forth.

*opinions (stupid Swype lol). And yes, we've seen that attachment. We've already agreed that collectors and enthusiasts view and label the first round of Mustangs as a 64.5 production model and that they even had physical differences to later batches. But Ford themselves still labeled it as a 1965 Ford Mustang.

No need for me to take a chill pill as I'm as calm as can be. I've already seen the opening post as I am post #2. I also understand that this is an open forum as you can see from the fact that I am openly posting my opinion as well. If I somehow offended you by stating my own personal opinion on this subject, then maybe it is you that needs to chill as I have been as respectful as possible. All I'm sorry for is the fact that my opinion is not what you wanna hear. It's not going to change though.

If I worked for Ford I would have sold both the 2nd job 14's and 1st job 15's as 50th anniversary models. People will spend good $ for a plaque and a piece of paper.

Eh, it is beating a dead horse. But I think it was already mentioned that the 40th anniversary cars were the last year run of the Fox4 platform. If Ford was following their own precedent the 50th really should be the 2014 since its 10 years after the 2004 40th. #maths

50th MUSTANG should be the 2014 S197 not the 2015

I went to a car show last week that handed out posters and such to all Mustangs. I will have to see if they were printed by Ford when I get home. Both had 1964 1/2 listed.

I already understand the topic. I also understand that this thread has really gone nowhere. It would have made more sense if this thread had been made as a poll asking us which model year we would've liked to have seen as the 50th: '14 or '15.

I agree with taking a poll. I did have quite a bit of input a while back in this thread for the 1964 1/2. My issue was people saying they never existed. Whether or not a VIN number reflects it, they did exist, were different from 1965, and were recognized as such by anyone into cars as far back as I remember, and I was born the year they came out, 1964.

Forgive me for the stretch and I do not mean to offend anyone by getting political, but just because the government only referred to Vietnam as a Police Action, was it not, in effect, a war? Tell anyone who fought in it, was injured, or families who lost loved ones that it was not a war.

Even if Ford doesn't recognize the 1964 1/2 as what it is, it still is.

Because people in Europe are smart enough to realize that the if the first year was a 1965, then the 50th year would be a 2015- while in the US we don't really catch on.

I also visit other forums, seems that the level on participation depends on the maturity of members, education/ experience / age / etc . There is no need to sabotage a thread , no need to offend . Calling a thread that has members making contributions to a topic a by members that jump the gun with no intent to contribute is in my book INFANTILE
