I think we all just need to agree to disagree on this one. Us 1964 1/2 people have been referring to it that way for decades, and no one is going to make us change after all this time. And the younger/newer people to the hobby have never heard of it that way before, or haven't heard it that way as long as we have, so it just makes no sense to them. It's a stalemate.

I'm not sure if I fall into the "younger" crowd at 31 but I've always known what a 64.5 Mustang is. I also know enough about them to know that the "64.5" Mustangs have some pretty significant differences from the main run 65s which makes them easy to spot on their own. Fact is, while there may not technically be a 64.5 as far as the VIN goes, they exist. If you don't think so you are just arguing semantics or for the sake of arguing.

I understand it, it's just that in the US we celebrate the honor of the Mustang. Our 1965 was born(in the emotional/concept thought) in 64, so we think the anniversary isn't when the model year was, or what the official registration/designation is- in Europe, they don't have our attachment or feelings for it.

The conversation would go like this:
2014 is the 50th anniversary? I thought the first Mustang was a 65.
Yea, but it's america, be glad they were that close on the math.

Anybody wanna take bets on what the 100th year will be? 64 or 65? (I'm guessing it'll be hydrogen powered by that time, too lol)

Let me word my opinion this way. Maybe you won't see it as offensive or infantile, Toydos. The first mustang was INTRODUCED in 1964. Since the '14 was INTRODUCED in 2013, that would make it the 49th anniversary Mustang, would it not? And thus, the Mustang INTRODUCED in 2014, would be the logical 50th, whether it's a new platform or not. The '84 and '04s being the 20th and 40th respectively honestly doesn't make sense to me. To me, Ford is finally getting one of their anniversary editions right. And I am by no means trying to change your opinion, just peacefully stating my own.

Doesn't say it came from Ford, but still cool!

FORGET IT , at this point in time a poll has no significant purpose , FORD is making a 50th Aniversary model out from the NEW KOREAN looking 2015 Stang

Who gives a crap about the poll. The poll doesn't mean *****. Ford already made their decision so what difference does it make now. Its a pointless poll. Let's have a poll on mustang owners that stick GT and 5.0 emblems on there V6. Cool or not cool! Ha ha ha ha ha

Can we include those who plaster Cobra emblems all over GTs in this same poll?.. Or would that have to be a different poll all together?.. Lol

If you pay attention to the OP, the subject is not a poll but a forum exchange on what is expressed on post #1

Oh yeah. That's my favorite poll. All show and no go poll. Kind of like this owners pony. Its a V6 with GT emblems on the side.

@ Kona Blue , I dare you to take your blue with the over done white stripes and white rear deck with generic stang wheels to an AM Coffee and Gas Meet away from your home town , park them ten cars apart and lets see who gets the attention, lets put money on this dare, your call and by the way FORD does not have a patent on the GT badge, even Vespa has a GT model
