Can i run an H-pipe w/out a tuner?

what would happen if i don't? the one i want says a tuner is required but doesn't say exactly why.

I've heard of people doing it.. I think it can make you run rich if you don't have a tune though. Not 100% though.

The Hpipe you're looking at, does it not have catalytic converters? If it doesn't, than the rear O2 sensors will throw a CEL. You'll need a tuner to disable the CEL for any catless mid-pipe, whether it's an X or H or anything.

You don't 'need' a tune as much as you need the tuner itself. As shane stated, you just need to disable the CEL for the code that will come up.
