V6 to v8 was night and day to me. Even my bolt on 3.7 vs stock gt was noticeable.

It is noticeable for sure but just not that powerful or strong as I had expected. The car definitely felt like it had potential but it is detuned to quite an extent.

All kidding aside but I know exactly where your coming from. I test drove a 2013 5.0 automatic a while back that had 3:15 gears and I was expecting the first or second coming of Jesus and not at all. My 300 rwhp 3.7 with 3:73 gears felt faster and pull harder than that 5.0. The factory tune in the 5.0 sucks a$$ and must have an aftermarket tune.

I'm sure that 5.0 was faster than my 3.7 but man was I hugely disappointed in how the power felt.

I own the V6 with 3.31 and I've driven a V8 twice (Brembo maybe 3.73?) the V8 is a better car but for me the price was too much. If you are willing to spend the $ go for it but I doubt you'll be happy with what you are offered on your V6.

They have a metric assload of potential though, they only dyno 350 to the wheels from the factory IIRC and their powerband is a little higher than say... a LS3... If you want a beastly bottom end why not go test drive a LS3 Camaro? Yes I said it.

At any rate, there are ppl on here running 11s easy without a ton of modifications. And if you are worried about going really fast in a straight line get the automatic.

Camaro?? Nooo way. I love Mustangs and automatics are not my taste. I love being able to control my shifts. Im sure the car has a lot of potential and can be used to its full potential only with a tune.

I just received MPT tune and flashed it and ran a couple of miles and hell im impressed. If v6 can churn this much of power im sure a GT can kick *** but it needs to be tuned and warranty needs to be voided

Kona i received the tune while i'm working in the office but being a kid that i am i couldn't wait and i uploaded the tune using my office computer. I ran it for like 2 miles and i loved it. It is strong it definitely pulls harder than BAMA 91H but me and Ryan are working to get the BAMA tune right. MPT just out of the box feel is outright amazing.

I'm convinced the MPT tune will give a Lund tune a run for the money on 1/4 mile times. My MPT pulls wicked hard and shifts crazy awesome.

With that said. I don't have any issues with my bama tunes , 91 hybrid and pulls hard as well.

I went from bama 91H tune to the 91 MPT tune and the MPT tune is WAY stronger it pulls through the whole rpms and chirps tires until 3rd gear and thats coming from an auto with only CAI and tune. Cant imagine with some gears lol

I've also test drove a 5.0 and thought the same thing. It was so dead lower in the rpms I just couldn't imagine having fun with it on the street. When I got home from the test drive I looked at a dyno chart and found my answer as the car doesn't make 300 hp until nearly 4500 rpms. That's one other thing people often don't consider which is important is what a cars power range is, opposed to just peak numbers. The 5.0s have a very importish powerband that is similar to a vtec or large turbo setup on a small engine.

That's pretty damn impressive.

Yeah I'm not saying these engines can't make impressive numbers just for me personally the stock power curve isn't something I would enjoy as a DD. But I have no doubt once these engines have been around a little longer people will be swapping them in everything just like LS1s were after a few years.

My car pulls like a beast now with the mpt tune. Every time I accelerate I smile. I'm having second thoughts on a v8 but then I start thinking how would a v8 be if I flash a lund, aed or mpt tune on it. Makes me smile more.

How are people getting the Gt for 30k OTD? For a premium with track package with all the rebate I'm being quoted about 35k OTD in michigan.

It is mind blowing. I did not even feel the need to data log and send it to review. I will still do so to see if everything is right. It is just amazing the way it pushes you into the seat. I'm surprised how much cars are detuned by ford.

A base GT is roughly 32k. Ford is offering at least 3 k in rebates plus if you negotiate I've heard of people walking away for 27-28k. If you think about it a premium model adds 4-5 k plus 2.5 k for the track pack, adds up pretty quick.

Today the dealer calculated with me. He said car price after dealer discount rebates for eg. is 35000 now 3000$ rebate more that everyone gets from ford so 32000$. Now tax on 35000$ which is 6% in michigan. This comes to 2100. So 33000+2100+ some transfer fees(~150)=35250$ otd price. Am I missing something in this calculation here?

Need better negotiating skills man. Tell them you want to be out the door for $27k on a base model GT. If they say they can't do that say that's really all you can afford and if they still don't go for it then say well "Ok well I'll go to another dealer" and walk away. And if they don't try to get you back and drop the price a little then legit go to another dealer and find one that will get you that price. Ppl are getting them out the door for $27-$28k.

The whole point of a big V8 is not having to spin it up like a small import motor. Oh well.

I did this with a lot of dealers. It looks like dealers are not enthusiast enough to sell the cars. Hell one even argued you will never get a car for this price and showed her a thread where someone mentioned he got it for 28k.she said okay but does not have a Base model. Everyone here has a premium. This pricing also depends on the state I would think?
