Rear end swap

I have a 1997 v6 automatic stock 7.5 rear end. I recently bought a 2004 rear end with motiv 3.73 gears and a Ford racing t-lok. Will the 04 rear end bolt up in place directly with my 97? I know the tires will stick out a half inch more on each sides. I'm worried about the control arms and everything else bolting up correctly. Thanks.

The actual 99-04 housing is wider by ~1.5" so the axles are wider, making the wheels stick out a bit more, not a huge deal.

I do believe the UCA and LCA bolt holes may be different sizes. I think the 99-04 are 14mm while the 94-98's are 12mm. That may be your biggest concern.

Thanks for confirming that. I thought they were interchangeable but having not done the swap myself I couldn't say for sure.

Yah I started a thread asking about things to look for when looking at Mach 1's but didn't get much feedback lol.

Not too many active Mach owners on the site these days.

Luckily the bit of research I did do paid off and I ended up with a clean car.

Perfect find 04, Azure Blue, I wouldn't have it any other way. Good luck with it and don't neglect the lil sixer lol. I'll catch you later on one of your posting.

BigShow-

Do you have any advice for me? I have the whole real axle assembly, but not the UCA and LCA. Do I need them from the 04 Mustang or can I use the 97's UCA/LCA? I thought they were interchangeable throughout the 94-04 mustangs so I didn't think to grab them when I bought the rear end. What exactly do you mean by the bolts are interchangeable?

Install went perfect. No need for new bolts. If you're installing a 99-04 axle on a 94-98 all you need is the assembly. All bolts interchange, uca and lca will work. The only thing you need is a 23 tooth speedo gear from DallasMustang (not the 21 tooth from AM).

Thanks. Just have to wait on the 23 tooth for my speedometer to be correct and it's perfect.

Awesome! Glad everything went smooth for you.

Good to know that the bolts are interchangeable as well.
