exhaust

Ok i bought my car from a dealer last october. It had 2 previous owners before me who done all the performance mods to it. I seen I had a SLP exhaust on it. It has no mufflers on it straight pipes from cats back. How can I tell if the exhaust is SLP from cats back, or from the axle back? Should it say somewhere? I know it says SLP on the tips.

Are you sure its straight pipes because some of the SLP exhausts basically use resonators in place of the mufflers. Take a picture.

exhaust

Looks to me like you have Slp loudmouth axle back with a custom pipe from the cats back to the loudmouth. You definitely have slp axle back though. Same as my car. The connectors from the slps to the other pipe looks like a custom fabrication onto some newer pipes. Just a guess at that though, it's a little hard to tell from the pictures

Well if you look at www.slponline.com. they don't sell a cat back for 05+ models. So I don't think it's a slp catback. Your pipes look identical to mine except for where they connect so I'm pretty sure that your pipe from the cats is either custom or another brand. I'll try to take a picture for you

As you can see on mine the slp pipe is fitted over the stock pipe. Also you can tell its stock by the gross discoloration and puny size. On your the slp pipe is fitted inside the larger mid pipe. Also note the color of your pipes. They look newer but they are not the same color as your slp tail pipes. Also they connection is nothing like I have ever see included in a cat back kit. A call to slp would confirm if they even make a cat back for 05+ mustang gt. Either way no matter the brand of the mid pipe, it still looks like a quality 3'to 3.5" pipe which is more than sufficient. If you have stock manifold they are choking you up long before you get to that bigger pipe.

Ok I got a couple if more pictures. A barcode, which I don't know if that helps anything. I didn't realize the 2 pipes connected. And the tube is 2 1/2" in diameter.

Why would you not take a pic under the car after the rear axle from the back? You know... where the muffler is supposed to be...

Yeah that's a bad angle. You may indeed have straight pipes. I'm not sure if it would be legal for the dealer to sell you the car like that honestly. I know if it has cats removed you can make them buy it back for full price and they can't do a damn thing about it.
