5.0 of course...but cannot afford the monthly payments right now. My wife mandated that if we were to buy a Mustang it HAD to be a convertible...GT convertible, even used, puts my payments at $700 a month...too much for me on my credit.

So...not an option.

Supercharger / turbo...what does that run at ? I am sure that is going to be at least 8k expense...

Nitrous is interesting but doesn't it screw up the engine in the long run?

Thanks guys.

you made a good choice the 3.7 v6 ' s are no joke,

Nitrous is just as safe as a turbo or a supercharger,

Only time you are pushing the " life of a motor" is when you get into the 400+ shots

Anything not properly set up can hurt your engine. Supercharger about6-8k. a proper nitrous set will run you about 1500-2k with a window switch colder spark plugs. Sorry but the statement about a 400 shot is ridiculous. I would say probably a 100 to 150 shot would be max on a stock v6. If you spray at too low an rpm you can blow a head gasket. (Ask me how I know)

Thanks...yeah I mean, at the moment with these mods I am smoking a lot of GT's that are from not that man years ago...even current GT's I am not that far behind....these V6's have pretty good power and potential once you start juicing them up.

You mean inject the NOS at low RPM's ? maybe NOS is a good way to go...I am concerned though of the safety in accidents...don't those things blow up ??

When you say 100-150 shot you mean HP increase ?

Please don't say NOS, that is a brand. What you inject into your car is Nitrous.

No fast and furious talk here

Did I say a 400 shot on a v6??? No I did not.
I said once you get up up to that level it's a whole new ball game. And it becomes alot more critical on a motor.
So re read b4 you type bud

What motor can take a 400 shot? Is it his? I thought that's the motor that is the topic of discussion

Mine can

And he said he thought nitrous would hurt the motor.
Which I responded no it would not, if everything is installed correctly, and tuned right.

It was a general statement about nitrous since he thought it would cause damage. Any car can run normal nitrous safely. But when you get to bigger numbers any motor's life can be reduced by nitrous, or superchargers, or turbochargers. That is forged internals or not.

It will be a direct port, 2 stage's this time.

Damn for that kind of cash why not get a blower man. You won't have to keep filling your bottle. You forged your bottom end? Hey man I wasn't trying to be a wise a$$ I thought we were talking about the OP running a 400 shot since this thread was about his car. I didn't see a reference to any other specific engine. Hopefully your did beef up your rods though if your planning to spray anywhere near 400. Good thing though if you didn't any she goes south on you at least you have an excuse to forge it

Can't believe you prefer spray over the blower, to each their own

Blowers have to build boost, also have major heat soak, and superchargers run out of breath up top usually. Once nitrous hits you have the power all the way.

Since she's paint for 50% of the payments I gotta stick with a convertible I can afford...and then have fun on it my way. haha...

I just got the Airaid intake spacer...that is about another 4-5hp...

So slowly slowly...Im not screwing with turbos and superchargers...that changes everything and it becomes a headache. I'll do as much s I can with normal aspirated.

We've got another one guys... SMDH.

An intake spacer will not add HP, add it does is have the air circulate differently, if anything, because the air is now choppy, it chokes off high rpm power somewhat.

Great list of mods so far! You're definitely on the right track.

There is still a ton of mods left to do. Long Tubes, O/R X and/or H-Pipe, Gears, Driveshaft, Suspension, weight reduction - just to name a few! Any of these mods will be really beneficial for your Mustang. After you get to this point you could look into a large power adder if you still wanted more!

Hope this helps.

I understand that if you're finances aren't where they need to be, blowing 6000 on a car you're still making payments on could piss a spouse off. Why doesn't anyone else get that? If you're wife went out and spent 6000 on designer bags would you not flip sh*t? Haha

Whipped? Mustangz, I'd love for us all to revisit this thread in ten years. Haha
