Raxiom updates

I don't have gps signal on this new Raxiom unit I just installed. From what I read the first shot at fixing this is to update everything via the naviextras website. Is the update free because all I see are maps that cost money.

Anyone do this procedure and can provide some guidance? Thanks a ton!!

It's late and after way too many beers I'm starting to think more clearly. Lol.

I downloaded the software and there's a free update available. ....HOPEFULLY that fixes the gps signal crapola.

If the update doesn't work, I've heard of several new units having bad GPS antennas. That could be the problem here.

I'm not sure why you're not getting GPS Signal. I would go over the install and make sure everything is in good shape and tight. We can definitely help you get this taken care of.

Just give our CS team a call and they'll gladly point you in the right direction! Our Mustang Experts are here Monday-Friday from 9AM-9PM EST and Saturdays from 9AM-5:30PM EST. If you want to hit them up, their number is 866.727.1266. I can also have one of them call you directly.

Did you ever find out a way to update the actual maps? The only thing I have gotten from the naviextras software is a couple of config updates for the system software. According to American Muscle, the map updates are supposed to be free, but I don't see how and haven't heard of anyone actually getting them yet. It'd be nice because the maps that come with the GPS are kind of outdated and I keep running into routing issues because of it.

When I logged into the software there was one update available. That update enabled the unit to find a gps signal and everything works now. Other than that I don't see where there are free maps. I was tempted to spend the $10 for the 3D maps.

It's good to hear that your issue is fixed. I really wish American Muscle would give a straight answer on the map updates instead of just saying they can be retrieved from naviextras.com. If they can, I would appreciate knowing how because nobody seems to have figured it out.

As the person with the most helpful review on AM's site for the item, I really wish I could edit my review and add the map update issue in there.

They'd probably censor it. Lol

On a side note.....is there a way to see artist and song info while listening to satellite radio? All it shows for me is station number and station title with the channel in the dialogue box.

Yeah, probably. They've been pretty sketchy about the map updates so far and I think it's because they mistakenly told people they were free and don't want to admit they were wrong.

As for the display, I think you can by touching the station name or something like that. If I remember correctly, there is definitely a way, but I haven't had an active Sirius subscription for about six months now so I can't remember exactly.

I checked mine out and remembered it's the third button on the top row, the one with the three lines. Press that to change the displayed info. There's a few options.

Sidenote: American Muscle has the Raxiom GPS on sale for Labor Day. Makes me wish I could update my review even more

Hmm...I dunno. Does it work on the AM/FM screen? I could swear it worked when I had a subscription.
