2013 v6 for a 03,04 mach 1?

Its honestly just a thought at this point, but what do you guys think? I currently have a 2013 v6 auto, and honestly I'm just dying for a manual v8. My car has 17,000 and some change, and I was looking into some mach's with no more then 40k on them. Let me know what you guys think, any input will be appreciated. Thanks.

I would wait and get a newer gt. The mach 1 is a great car. Love the azure blue ones. I just can't see trading for a car that's 10 years older than your current ride. I would try to hold off until you can get a 2011+gt. Just my opinion though.

Mach is sweet and will probably be faster than your v6, but it is also 10 years older.. Technology, and drivetrain is very raw, and caveman ish. Personally I'd keep your newer car, and so you don't have to worry about if the cars been abused or not. Although you'll never have tht v8 growl

All I can say is, sit in a 2011-up and sit in a 04-down. You get a lot of cheap plastic and low quality leather with little/no creature comforts in the 04-down cars. Although that is less **** to go wrong and everything is stupid easy to fix/replace so I guess there is that.

99-04 is the best looking body style IMO when set up right.

Depends on what you want!.. If performance is the key, then get the Mach!.. If you want more leg room and a bit more comfort, keep the V6!..

I tend to agree the New Edges and even the 94-98 cars can be setup to look spectacular but they do need some work. I would love to buy this car right now honestly... 45k original mile 01 Cobra for $12k 5 hours away from me.

My wife would effing KILL me if I spent more money right now plus I'd have to sell my 98 first and its finally fixed to where I can DD it and not have to worry about anything.

To the OP, take a look at the interior pics of my car and that 01 I posted because that's as nice as you're really ever going to see outside of a show car on a 94-04 car.

They gray Mach looked gorgeous until I saw that interior...wow, bland in my opinion. Maybe my interior will look like that in 10 years, but I couldn't pay so much for that to be my premium car. But again, power isn't my end all be all- if it's what you want, then it's what you want.

That's not a Mach, thats a NA Cobra. And that's what I'm talking about with the cheap plastic and 0 creature comforts besides power windows/locks and AC. Which is all you really need for a fast car. All the extra **** adds weight.

I like the Mach's but compared to a 2011+, it would be a downgrade. The Mach might be slightly faster but that is it's only advantage.

I would consider the Mach/NA Cobra a downgrade if DD creature comforts are an issue. Call me a function over form guy but you can install a nice 7" touchscreen with voice control that mirrors your phone and a hard 1.5TB external drive for all your music. The 4V will beat the Cyclone performance wise no problem, but it won't be as drastic as some ppl will have you believe.

Wait and get an older Coyote. But I sorta didn't wait that long, I traded my 2 year old hopped up Premium 2013 Cyclone/Auto for a premium 2013 Coyote/Manual with 5K on it in March this year. The GT even had all the extra premium features but thank God not the Nav. I put a ASUS 7" tablet Velcro over the console when I want it there and can remove it when I don't.

The one great thing about the older mustang interiors is they are durable as all hell. Never hear of a dash cracking issue or warping or anything like that unless the owner legit did something to cause it.

Yeah, very fundamentally stable... But omg so caveman-ish. Boring and I even have a touchscreen in it

Correct. My 01s interior is very solid.

Yeah even the grey/black interior I had in mine would have been just fine had I cleaned it really well, replaced the door cups (which I did when I swapped to black) and did new carpet (which I also did when I swapped to black). I actually went to an interior 3 years older out of a 95 lol. Time will tell on the newer interiors. I know the earlier S197s have issues with the door panels but its not a hard fix. I have yet to sit in a S550 but I will for damn sure visit a dealer when they come out just to see what is up. The 2014 interiors are pretty nice I will say that. Not on a BMW level but close.

Some of you guys may kill me for saying this, but what about an 05 GTO..... I've found one in excellent condition, in my price range, manual, 31,000 miles, and of course an ls2... Don't get me wrong, id rather have a 2011 5.0, but I just can't find one in my price range

This is my backup car vs the Coyote when I start looking. I've sat in a few since becoming somewhat interested in them. You would never know you are sitting in a GM product but everything I've read says they need a full rear suspension overhaul to hook up. And being a LS2 you only need 1 cam to swap vs 4 lol.

Biggest thing is $13-$16k for a nice lower mileage LS2 GTO vs $23-$26k nice lower mileage Coyote.

edit: Or $10-$12k for a really nice F body haha.

*puts on flame suit*

From what i hear, the first model year for that gen of Gto's are absolute junk. Even the GTO guys stay away from them! But don't worry man, I wouldn't kill ya over suggesting a GTO. Even though they've got a very bland exterior, they're really nice cars and I would definitely own one in my lifetime. Only problem is, when spot one in traffic I always find myself saying, "Is that a GTO?" Because honestly, they look like a Big cavalier.

They are not junk, the GTO guys "stay away" from them because they have the LS1 vs the LS2 and are slower than a F body. But, being a LS1 car, it has a ****ton of mod potential. There are some other upgrades to the 05/06 cars too and some exterior body stuff that makes the 05/06 look better as well.

Banging around on GTOforums and LS1tech, I've seen a few guys who specifically wanted the LS1 as a cheaper cruiser that gets good gas mileage and is still a "performance V8".

The gto has alot of potential, my cousin has a 06 one with full exhaust, fast, Ms3 makes 430 they are quick.
I would take the gto over the 3.7 and the Mach 1

No doubt the ls1 is a great motor. I'm simply going off a thread from a local forum in which the GTO guys strongly recommended staying away from the 04. Not just because of the ls1, but more for a lot of the "First year run" issues that come up with them. Perhaps junk was too strong of a word, but there are definitely quite a few first year run issues with the 04's that they pointed out.
