Unhappy 3 to 2 downshifting issues

The car has about 3500 miles on it and lately either it's getting numb or I am. But around town I've been having 3 to 2 downshifts where it feels so unconfident that when I blip the throttle and let out the clutch, the rpms drop hard. Lo and behold I'm actually in 4th gear. Its only happened about 2-3 times this week but I'm worried that I'm destroying 4th gear synchro with these mistakes.

So far no odd noises have happened and 4th is still smooth under normal conditions so I'm just counting my lucky stars but is there a trick to getting smoother 3-2 shifts without replacing the shifter or shifting painfully slow? I plan to get MGW but in the meantime I just want any tips to avoid this gear vagueness.

If you are going from 3-2 and hitting 3-4 then you need to practice. Regardless of how vague and horrible the factory shifter is, you have to be doing something wrong to accomplish that.
