Been seeing more 2015s on the road

Just passed a yellow one, didn't have GT badging but I don't know if it was a turbo 4 or a V6. Reminded me that I got some good pictures of a GT a couple weeks ago. I think these look great on the road, especially the back end. I think a lot of the people who don't like the new design will be changing their minds when they start seeing them around.

Looks nice, I like the back. Heck, even warming up to the front now.

I'll warm up to it more if I can get a leftover MY 5.0 in 12-24 months for the $27k price point they are going at now for the leftover 2014s lol.

I just can't get over the front end and how bleh it is compared to the gorgeous fronts on the 11-14s. The tail is not exactly my cup of tea either but its not terribad. I still say the best thing about the 2015 is it should drive the prices of the 11-14s down even more.

I do believe history will remember the 10-14s as one of the best Mustang body types ever. I hope that for the S550 a refresh in a few years will fine tune the design to something everyone is on board with. Remember that the 05-09 doesn't look nearly as sexy as 10-14. It's a necessary intermediate.

I am hoping when my 12 is old, and I am trading her in or putting her on jacks in the garage, I can get a nice (trouble free) 18 or 19.

I like the fronts, but the rear looks meh, and the rear quarter panels look like they just gave up. In my opinion.

Yeah but the 05-09 still looked like a Mustang although I agree it needs a lot of work to look decent. The other day I thought I finally saw my first 2015 Mustang on the roads here in NJ but it was someone with a lowered SHO with a few cosmetic mods... that in itself says a lot to me.

The only 05-09s that might be collectors will be the GT500s and MAYBE the Bullitt but I doubt the Bullitt.

I think the real collectors out of this generation will of course be the SE's, and the 13-14 MY cars

Meh, still looks like an Infiniti to me. As soon as I saw one I bought a 2014 GT instead.

Only time will tell. I remember when folks were dumping their '67 Stingrays for nada in the early '70's thinking the '68+ series was the tits. We know better now.

This concept of a modded one actually looks half decent. Will have to see what they look like for realz when they come out and the aftermarket gets ahold of them. It took a long time for the 05-09s to grow on me. I still think the 11/12 is the sexiest Stang built in a loooong time.

That looks damn nice. Just priced out a vert premium 50 anniversary edition and it's $45k. Maybe summer 2015 for me.

They aren't making many of the 50th anniversary editions, and obviously even fewer of the verts. That would be a rare car in a couple decades, I think it would become a collector.

Myself, I'm not in the market for a 2015 Mustang even though I like them. I agree with some others here that 11-14 is the best design, especially 11-12. I'm in love with my 2012 and want to keep it as long as I possibly can. But if the financial/family situation is right for the refresh in a few years, let's say '18 or '19, I would look into getting another.

I think he's talking about the 50th anniversary appearance package.

Oh, that's something new to me. I see now on the Ford website what you are talking about, an appearance package that costs $1600. I was talking about the limited 50th anniversary edition, they are only making 1,964 of them (1964...). This: 2015 Ford Mustang 50th Anniversary Edition Photos and Info – News – Car and Driver

So this is not the same thing? Anyone know for sure?

Yeap, 2015 has 50th anniversary appearance package. Wonder why the '09 is a 45th anniversary model when there's 6 year diff. BTW I still cannot get past the rear end on the 10-14 and IMO 05-09 looks better and liking the '15 a lot and sure we will be hearing a lot around improved handling with this one.

Not the same. The limited edition gets some performance stuff the regular doesn't get, I think. But yes, that's different than the 1964 limited edition cars.

Thanks for the info, guys.

I think the 6 year difference is because the original Mustang was really a 1964.5, which was released in April 1964. At that middle stage, I guess it becomes a little arbitrary of where you start counting the model year. I guess in '09 they decided to start it at '64, in '15 they decided to start it at '65. They still unveiled the car in 2014 almost exactly 50 years after the first released, even though it's a model year 2015.

I was thinking same but thought ford would have stuck with a 5 year incremental on anniversaries. Not sure if there are 2 variants of the 50th, will be interested to find out more details.

Guys, we had a WHOLE HUGE THREAD on the subject of why was the 2015 the 50th and not the 2014 when it was 35th in 99, 40th in 04 etc... Plz don't beat a dead horse some more lol. Its all marketing for the new model that's why.

I too will be in the market for something probably around the 2018 MY release (2017) but for damn sure I will not be paying $45k for a Mustang, there is no way. I would be totally fine paying $20-24k for a 2011-2014 tho or even $28-$30k for a leftover from the previous model year like the 2014s are going for now. Will have to see what the refresh looks like if/when it happens and also how the IRS performs in the S550 which is my biggest concern.

The new topend in the 2015 5.0 is pretty much what the 03 revision was for the C heads, just a little intake runner work and a few other tricks but completely not worth getting a whole new car for. Transmissions will be the same, its the rearend and how it holds up. Last time Ford did an IRS they murdered it with garbage compliant rubber bushings because jackasses would complain about NVH. Hopefully this time they used Delrin.

Marketing, and that their is NOT a 1964, or 1964.5 Mustang. The first actual production Mustang was a 1965. The earlier production run is coined by fanatics at a "64.5."

Anything celebrating 1964 is because of the big shift the Mustang release made.

Yes but then the 99/04/09 are all inaccurate lol. Again, we had a big thread on it. It is what it is. Like I said I'm still more interested on the new chassis/suspension setup than anything with these things. I'm sure the aftermarket will come out with some stuff to make them look really good for guys who think they are too "Euro" or just are meh about a few things. Like the 05-09 cars look like **** in stock form IMO but there is enough aftermarket body stuff out to make them look pretty good IMO.

Newbie here but did look at previous posts and didn't see anything on it, must be dated thread and makes no sense thst the 45 is outgoing model and 50 is incoming if its all marketing. Anyway, does anyone know if the limited edition and 50th appearance package is one on the same? Also, the sticker on my '09 was $36.2k so $45k is not too much of a stretch if it is that much improved.

My local dealer has a 5.0 on order for a customer, planned to arrive in October. So my guess is that October is when you can get your hands on one. You should be able to order them now, though.

Already out and sold. Asked my dealer when they were getting them in, they have already had one in and sold it. Haven't seen it in my area, though.

Wonder if they will turn any leftover 2014s into "2015 Heritage Edition" like they did with leftover 03 F-150s.

According to Ford, production of the 2015 starts officially tomorrow (8-22-14) at Flat Rock with first deliveries to dealers expected last week of September. The 1,964 Anniversary additions will be mixed in with regular production cars and will not necessarily be the first completed. The cars that have been seen so far are prototype mules which will more than likely be destroyed once all testing is complete.

My club, the North Texas Mustang Club, has some close relations with both Ford and several of the local dealers. We had requested a 2015 to display at our big annual show (Yellow Rose Classic) held last weekend but was told that none would be available outside an official Ford display. So we just had to accept that.

Where's that club at? I'm up in denton.

Yes I edit my posts a lot, auto correct likes to sabotage me!
