Just looking for opinions

The time has come to where I am in need for a new car of sorts, my price range is about 6k. I can't decide if it would be more efficient to just buy a 94-04 low milage Mustang gt, or put the money into my project car a 1983 Mustang gt. Now normally I would pick the 1983 Mustang over a new one, but it needs a lot of stuff including a engine, tranny(has to be Manuel), and rear end to support the new engine. So my question is can I get all that for around 6k? Or would I be better off just buying a car and slowly working on it as my project car, also I was kinda hoping I could get around 320hp+ out of the 83gt so I still had some power to keep up with modern cars.

Me personally I would fix up that 83 not many if that year floating around x 94-99 GT isnt going to give you a whole lot of cars scared when they line up to you you'll be battling to hit those 300s definitely fix up the 83

Speaking from experience building up my 1982 GT years ago, unless yours is very very clean, rust will settle in these cars and spread quickly. I would look for newer.
