I really like how sleek it looks, but I wish it didn't have that RTR logo on the bottom.

Oooo, added to Build List. Makes me sorry I just bought the smoked decklid cover. That is a beautiful piece though.

Pre-ordered as well. Can't believe I didn't notice this until now. Also, this should come with the huge letter decal that you can add yourself to get the authentic RTR look, right?

Nope. It's just the black powder coated decklid, and a small RTR sticker on the bottom.

Thought so, I know someone with an RTR 'Stang and he said that those decklids are reserved for RTR Mustangs with official serials.

He also said that even for them it takes months to get a replacement... lol.

If you don't like the RTR logo, you could always get it painted to match. That would look interesting.

I'm sure you guys already know but just incase someone didn't catch it.

Technical Note. This RTR Rear Deck Lid panel requires permanent modification of the factory deck lid (trunk lid) for installation.

Yeah that's the biggest deterrent for me. My warranty is done, but the thought of cutting into the body makes cringe.

That's kind of the part I'm looking forward to. Making it my own Mustang and doing my own work. I have absolutely no experience when it comes to body work etc. but based on the instructions, this looks really easy to do and fairly hard to mess up. I only have 6.5k miles on my car but luckily the dealer I got it from is also an RTR dealer which helps me out a little in terms of warranty work etc.

When you remove the deck lid there is a hump of metal left over you have to cut off and smooth so the new deck lid sits flush.

Don't see why not. As long as it's in the fitment year range.
What decklid do you have?

If it's one that you just stuck on such as the cdc or trufiber, you'd just take that off. The modification is done to the actual body metal. The small metal hump that is under the decklid/faux gas cap.

It's shaved away so you can then add the new decklid to be flush.

If you follow every step correctly and cut carefully you should be fine. But if hesitant, maybe a friend/family member can help?

Or you can go with another decklid.

You need to know the rules, to break the rules

Rush, the models before 13-14 didn't come with decklid panels therefore it's just the decklid. So they don't have the clip holes like the newer ones.
