And in general one thing to remember is saying H/C LS1 is extremely generic. Depending on the size of the cam and type of heads you can be looking at a range from 400-600 HP for a street car without any issues.
400 - 450 whp is easily doable on any LS1. Once you get past 450whp on an LS1 with just H/C/I, you start running into driveability issues. 500 whp is possible but very rare. 530+ whp is unheard of on a stock H/C/I LS1 without either FI or nitrous.

Hell, my Z28 puts down 430 whp on motor (nitrous tune) and 588 whp on a 150 shot. My car has about as big a cam as possible for a DD (237/242 .603"/.609") and a 6 spd manual.

I have been in bigger cam LS1's but they aren't anywhere near as responsive while driving on the street unless you're above 3,500 rpm. Also, they generally have cam surge quite badly from idle to 1,800 rpm. It can be somewhat tuned out but will not go completely away.

But if you are like me and don't give a F about interior Fbody is the choice.
1st would be a 11-12 5.0
2nd Fbody

Yeah it reminds me of the SN95 interior, I would honestly like something better. I really do like the 05/06 GTO but they are a little bland on the exterior. Also would rather have the 6R80 than the 4L60 if I'm going to be auto. Conversely, I'd rather have the T-56 than the MT-82 if I'm stupid and get a stick again.

I do keep looking at 07-09 GT500s, I have a soft spot for them. I know they are pigs and they need a Whipple turned to 750 to really move out but they are still cool.

I was thinking about a GTO or G8 (especially) but I noticed that for whatever reason they get smoked by everything unless they have like 150+whp more than it. It would seem as though our new 5.0s are kind of the same way, just no where near as bad. I can feel that it would be such a "happier" car if it could lose about 2 or 300 lbs though.

Again though... I've driven a bolt on trans am, a 06 GTO, a nice G8 and I owned a bolt on C5... the new 5.0s are far superior in feeling and all around quality. Just more expensive to get big power out of them... but thats what credit cards are for! lol

Meh, the On3 turbo kit for the 5.0 is $3700. $300 set of injectors and a $600 dyno tune and there is your 500+rwhp. BAP and you can take it up to the limits of the stock internals. The On3 test car was in the 650whp range on the stock fuel pump/internals/converter before pulling the motor for a built unit and a triple disc circle D stall. IIRC they were running 10s on pump gas with that setup and getting stock gas mileage when just cruising.

This is all just recycled information but confirmed via multiple sources. The more I look at it... the more I am going to have a hell of a time justifying anything but a nice low mileage 11/12 5.0 automatic when I get back into a sports car.
