3000 or 3500 thereabouts is what I would do, just because of the break-in period. Especially if you're planning on switching to full synthetic.

I do, the Motorcraft stuff is a synthetic blend, it's not terrible oil in all honesty but I just prefer full synthetic due to my driving style and climate.

I use Royal Purple 5w 20 (it's probably different for a GT)

I did my first at 3000. But I would do the synthetic blend at least one more time before going to full synthetic.

Why do you recommend synthetic blend before going to full synthetic? Going in for my first oil change tomorrow and was wondering what the reasoning was.

No need to do a blend first, just prolongs crappy oil in your car. I'd change at 1000 and then again whenever you chose.

Stay away from RP it's not worth the price.

Do the semi synthetic at 3,500 miles

Then at 10,000 miles switch to the full synthetic and a good filter. I use Motorcraft oil and filter and just let my dealer change it.

The big reason to just stick with the semi-synthetic the first oil change is:
One=== costs less.
Two=== If the engine pukes you can say it is the same oil the car came with.

After 10,000 miles are on the engine, I'm sure you will never have a problem. Now is the time to go full synthetic no matter what brand oil you decide to use. Just make sure you use a good quality filter and NOT A FRAM !
