Widest tire I can go

I have a 2008 mustang v6 with stock rims and tires and I wanted to go wider in the back.
Size is 215/65/17
Do you think I can go 255?

I have 19" 305/40 in the back for width wise just fits without a spacer. Any bigger and you might need one.

With keeping the 17" rims 275ish. I would recomend just making them a winter set and get all new bigger ones.

Probably not lol, but 17s just look small on the car my own opinion. 275 should not be to big, I wouldnt go any bigger.

Good lord. does your car have a lift on it? LOL.
A 275/65 will be over 31" tall bud

And a 275 will not fit on your stock wheel.

Well for one if it's stock wheels and tires it would be a 215/65/16 not 17

So go double check and look at the tire size.

When the v6 came with 17 ' s it came with
235/55/17. So something is off somewhere.

Ok that's what I thought.

The width is 7" wide then. So that means 235 would be as wide as I would go if i was you.

The width of your wheel determines how wide you can go with your tire.

Your best bet is to get a aftermarket set of wheels. 18x9 up front and 18x10 out back

Then run a 265 up front
And 295-305 out back

I stand by what I said a 275 will fit, not knowing the width of the rim tho. Could be 17x9 for all you know.

Dude a 275 will not fit on a stock v6 wheel. They are 7" wide.

Go somewhere else with the bad info your giving this guy.

Without knowing the width of the rim there is no way to know what width tire will fit on it. A 275 tire will fit the car but he's asking if it will fit his rim.
If its a 7 inch rim no way a 275 will fit safely on it. Reminds me of idiots who used to try and squeeze 315 tires on a 9 inch rim. If your going to do it why not do it right especially with something as critical as tires.

Well what you said is wrong and the wheel is 7" wide. The 2008 V6 base came with 16x7 inch wheels.

Nitto ultra high performance. They do make wider rims so dont sit there and attck me for being "wrong" b.c. I never said a 275 will fit a 7" width rim. I said it would fit a 17" tire b.c the rim width was not established.

Yes, it was. In the first post he said he had STOCK rims. Stock v6 rims are not 9" wide.

Nitto does not make a 305/40/19 bud.

And you said a 275 would fit his stock wheel so you were wrong.
Also they are 16 ' s not 17 ' s

Bro, did you read his posts? He said he made a mistake, it's a 16" rim, 7" across. So idk where your getting 17" from now.

305/30*/19 bud. Everyone in this post is very toxic. This is supposed to be a friendly community. I did see his updated post but I was justifying my post about the 17".

I was curious to know if someone actually had a 305/40/19 bc I would be running it. It's the exact height I would need.
I knew for a fact nitto did not, that's why I was asking.
