2nd or 3rd generation owners?

Have a parent or grandparent that owned and drove a Mustang too?

My father bought a 1969 Mach 1 brand new, but sold it a few years later when I came along (sorry bout that, Dad). Good news is he's awaiting delivery on a brand new '15 GT lol.

Besides being the car I wanted, my car was somewhat of a tribute to his love of the Mustang and his passing down a love of all things automotive to me.

Let's hear your story...

Dad had a 67 coupe he drove when couldn't drive his Harely, back in the 70s. White with light blue interior 289 4 barrel 4speed. He sold it and the next mustang he had is my Roush. He absolutely loves it, I even gave him my extra set of keys to it if he ever wants to drive it.

Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.

Cool. My Dad just visited from out of state and got to drive mine. Now he's even more pumped about getting his. Can't wait til he can return the favor.

My father had pretty much every "affordable" GM hotrod but never a Ford or Mopar. Used to ride around in a 69 Z28 and then a 79 Trans Am Special Edition on nice days when I was little before he finally moved up to a latemodel Corvette. I always like that 69 Camaro but my Uncle said he liked it so my Dad gave him a really good deal on it and then the assclown turned right around and sold it and made a big $$ profit on it. That was pretty much the end of them talking...

But anyway yeah lol. Lot of good memories riding around in those cars and what got me into V8 sports cars in general. I think I went to Fords to be different from my Father honestly.

Had a buddy try to get my Roush; he offered a 69 Z28 RS. The car was black with orange racing stripes (originally white with orange stripes) had the original orange interior 4spd. It had a built 383 stroker in it with the stupid rare crossram intake that came on his 302. It made around 750hp it had headers and x pipe only loudest car I've ever heard in my life. I could hear his car over a mile away when I'm in my house windows shut with the tv on. He offered the car with the original DZ 302, and the original rallye wheels, along with the wheels and engine in the car. I turned him down but he sold it for $35,000 (it was appraised for over $75,000 with much needed body work) then he offered a 90 ZR1 red on red with 12,xxx original miles and the original tires on it, but turned that down too, he traded the corvette for a 2010 gt at our local ford dealer. Have a couple more pics
reason on not accepting the trades his cars a worth more than mine and didn't want to risk the friendship over the price differences. Didn't want him to think I cheated him. Click image for larger version

Corvette had a 5.7 LT4 with twin injectors. Had a switch in the dash to turn them on, normal the car was limited to one injector and 4000rpms full= hold on to something
Rated at 375hp which is bull it had more. 10in wide tires in the front with 12s in the back. Cars a beast.

Might have had to taken him up on the Z28 though lol. I did get ride in a brand new ZR1 at dealership back in the day - still remember it fondly. Mostly for the car, somewhat for the tall, blonde saleswoman who was driving (hey, I was 19 lol)

This was early this year. I bought my mustang November of 13 and I let him drive it (first one who drove it). He became obsessed with it, he's driven it almost 10 more times since then. There was a 2012 Roush stage 2 at our Toyota dealership that I took him to see but he didn't want it. Personally, I wouldn't have gotten rid of either of them but then again they weren't my cars. But I know for a fact I would never have traded that ZR1 for a 2010 gt ever.

Well, sounds like you've got leverage on a pretty nice car if you ever change your mind. Don't think I would part with it if I were him either, but hey to each his own.

I'm a proud third generation owner. Grew up in the motor city for the first 22 years of my life. Grandfather was an engineer at Ford and he owned quite a few mustangs that he eventually passed on to my father as well as a Detomaso Pantera that he kept as his toy. With his history of working at Ford it was only natural for me to keep the tradition alive. I bought my first mustang this year and I love it!!!

That's great. I bet your grandfather had some stories.
I have always wanted a Pantera - love them. Still might have one some day. Congrats on carrying on the legacy.

Unfortunately not they had a couple of them that were supplied by ford. He got rid of them before he got sent to the ford plant in brazil. Nothing but pictures and stories left of the cars. One day though, I do plan on having one all for myself.

It's my favorite car from Italy by far. But there isn't anything sexier for a car than a gated shifter.

Lol, sounds like the 3 of us need to go in on one together lol. Maybe that way it would be affordable - damn things keep going up. Always been a dream car.

Very nearly started one with my father in late 90's and could have built a pretty nice one for under 30k. Was into Mopars then though, and also started college so never came to be.
Guess I need a Delorean and a flux capacitor now...

Completely understand. Got my Chevy mostly restored and my challenger is under restoration. If I put all the money I have in both of them I could get a pantera but I'm not willing to sell them so it doesn't matter really.

What kind of E body you restoring? The right Mopar muscle is a pretty good alternative for Pantera dreams, I'd say.

70 challenger T/A. It competes with the boss 302 and the camaro Z/28 in the trans am racing series, well the race car did. Like nascar the trans am series required a x number of street legal variants of the race car for the race car to be legal to race. This is what it will look like...Click image for larger version

Jealous. Your lucky if you have a true T/A car. 340 six-pack - gotta love it. Gonna be a beautiful car.
Mopar is in my blood. My father was a big-shot bracket racer in a Plymouth Duster back in the day. We built a pro Street style Duster my Junior year in high school for my first car. A "little 318" that lived to embarrass 5.0's (sacrilege I know lol) and IROC Z's.
Various other Mopars came and went over the years. Miss those days, but I love my Mustang now.

It is a real one. But the car was f***ed up sometime during its life. Probably drag raced, originally a 4spd car but I bought it had an auto. A lot of T/A only parts were missing but I've had it for almost 5 years and the restoration has been going on for 4 years now. I've almost got all the parts back on it. Just need the rear spoiler and some parts for the trans. And new interior, and glass, and I'm going to stop now...

Lol, I hear ya. It's a labor of love, Mopar parts can be a tough find if you don't have "network" connections. Good luck with it, that's a great car. I'd love to see pics of it when your done.

Unfortunately the biggest things that make it a T/A are not being reproduced so I had to buy original parts. The fiberglass hood isn't being reproduced or the special intake that came on it. It had a two 4 barrel set up when I bought it and a different hood. Plus the T/A exhaust manifolds are next to impossible to find (3 1/2 years before I found them), l got lucky. Got the special side exhaust for it and the rallye dash with an 8,000 rpm tach (T/A only). And many many other parts

I can imagine. There were only what 3,000 or so made? Aftermarket support is so limited for Mopar, even for "ordinary" parts (better now then it was). Those limited run parts have got to be hell to find - and expensive when you do. Usually there's a core group of Mopar guys around that are the only ones who know where the treasures are.

2,399 mines 1 of 989 being its a manual trans. It's rarer with all the other options, like paint and what not. I don't care about the rarity, it could've been a six cylinder for all I care. I saw it I liked it and I brought it. Plus another deciding factor was the owner was going to scrap it if it didn't sell. I didn't want to see the car torn apart so I snatched it up and now it's setting in my shop, waiting for me to get back and finish the restoration.

Yeah, you've got a rare car there. Kudos to you for taking it on. These cars deserve to live on - even when they're hell to revive lol.
