347 stroker with t5

I've read this might be a bad idea or the t5 might not be able to handle much. But let's say we were gonna couple the two, is there anything special I need to know? It's a manual t5.

Well if the T5 is in relatively good condition it might last a while till you power shift it a few times or a few launches on DR. It could last a while who really knows but a well build 347 will eventually need a stronger tranny.

Definitely agreed. If it was bolted to an auto before and I'm switching to this manual t5, does anything need swapped?

What computer are you going to use?

You are gonna need.....

T5 w/ bellhousing
Pedal assembly
Clutch Pedal Safety Switch
Transmission Mount
Flywheel
Clutch and Pressure Plate
Clutch Cable
Fire Wall Adjuster
Clutch Fork
Throw Out Bearing
Shifter Boot
Fluid
And various other little things I probably forgot.

That tranny is rated at around 280 Ft/Lbs of torque.

T-5 behind a 347 stroker? Seems legit, id put some drag radials on it too and make sure to launch it frequently so that it doesn't atrophy like muscles do when u dont use them enough

A World Class T5 is rated for 310 actually. It might last a little while. It'll get you running and driving at least and I've seen them hold up surprisingly well if you go relatively easy on them and don't powershift. However... first good launch on race tires or a missed high RPM 3rd gear shift and say bye bye.

The good news is you can have them rebuilt into an A5 for less money than a TKO and it'll shift x1000 better than any other stick shift. People always like to throw around "butter smooth" when talking about shifting. Nothing and I mean NOTHING shifts as smooth as a fresh T5. The A5 is rated at 585ft lbs for the top model btw, but that is conservative.

As far as the swap... a 347 is still a 5.0 externally, the T5 will bolt up just like it would to a stock motor. Now... if you are going from auto to manual then its just a regular conversion, there are a metric assload of threads on how to do this swap.

Or if you are planning on 1/4 mile then just stay auto. Pull a 4R trans with low miles out of a JY, converter, manual valve body or standalone controller and rock down the 1/4 mile never missing a shift and launching harder.

And you can turn th T5 into a dog box, which is cool as ****. I want a dog box transmission in my life. I agree auto is faster for drag racing times, but I wanna go racing like a man, not cruise around like a little girl! lol

Thanks guys. Much appreciated and yeah, this is just to get it off the ground. Not for a permanent situation.
