Takata airbag recall expanded: now affects Mustangs through 2014!

FYI: http://www.autonews.com/article/2015...airbag-recalls

My car is now affected with a message on my Ford Owner website. Of course, who knows how long it will be until replacement airbags are available.

What better way to ensure safe driving!

Great. I hate letting the dealer or anyone touch my car

I hear you on that...my purchasing dealer essentially destroyed my rear axle thanks to their "skills." They also damaged my rocker moulding and underbody because they couldn't put the car on a lift properly.

Hopefully the airbag thing won't require much more than removing the center bit of the steering wheel...but I'll take tons of photos and do a walkthrough with the service advisor so that at a minimum, they know I'm paying attention.

What state are you guys from that all this crap is happening? The dealer I go to goes out of their way to make sure nothing happens to my car while it is there. They even hand wash my car instead of putting through the onsite car wash.

Doesn't matter where you are. I trust no one with my car. Dealers don't care. I just don't like letting out of my sight. Anytime I have in the past. I've paid the price. They jacked something up

When ever the dealer works on my car I sit there and watch them. I've had one guy take off in it while in the bathroom to check wheel balancing and I checked the fuel economy right after to see of he was dogging it. If anyone dogs it it will be me.. hehe. Call me picky but o well..

Maybe I do trust a bit to much but seeing that I have had many parts on my car replaced ( including the engine block with only 13k on the car) and they have only improved it every time I got it back. Go figure..

Now this is strange...was about to contact a dealer and wanted to double-check the recall campaign number, and now the Ford website says there are no active recalls for my VIN.

So was yesterday a "just kidding" or what? Guess Ford is still figuring all this out. I'm sure they'll have it all straightened out by 2017 or so.

Check here

Have your VIN # handy

https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/

I got lucky, Mine is OK. They do use two manufacturers for the airbags. One Manufacturer good the other stunk.

Interesting. Last night, owner.ford.com showed the airbag recall. Today? Both Ronnie's link, and Ford show no recall.

And now it's back! A recall on the recall to the recall.

I feel sorry for the Ford techs that have to do these. I was a Honda tech up until April and I can say without a doubt that the airbag recalls sucked. They payed well but getting parts was a nightmare. I'm just gonna assume that it's gonna be the same issue for Ford. Honda had the driver and passengers air bag inflator for the Pilots on back order for a solid 2+ months before they'd ship out a batch of 50 to each dealer and then run out of stock again.

Ford announced that the recall will be active on July 13, sourced from Edmunds. They will likely not have an updated list of VINs until then.

Ran the vehicle health report this morning. It lists my vehicle for airbag recall, as well as a PCM reprogramming?

How do you find out without sync. I have sync but I'm deployed and don't have access to my car.

Put my Vin into this site and it said no recalls but I'm going to wait until after June 14th to be sure. I won't be back until damn near next year anyway.

Try your VIN again. today. Mine now shows the recall. I think every mustang got the same airbag inflator. The defect is caused by high humidity, I think you know Florida has a bit of that.

You just make an appointment with the service department of your local dealer. Take it in, they take care of any recall stuff.

BTW, I had some computer programming recall thing, too, a year or two back. I told them not to mess with my tune, but apparently the stuff that was fixed had nothing to do with the tune at the time. So, if you have a ecm recall to attend to still, you might as well tell them if you have a tune -- they'll be able to tell regardless and at least you've covered yourself so they don't do something like reset it to stock.

Mine shows the recall. Called the dealer and they said it was announced but the actual process of fixing it hasn't been started. I will get something in the mail telling me when.
