Won't go into gear when upshifting @ high rpm

I haven't owned my 2014 GT-CS long, but I've noticed that it seems as if when I try to shift at relatively high rpm (somewhere around 5-7k) the trans won't let the shifter move into gear. I was thinking before that I was just shifting wrong, but now that I'm much better with shifting, I notice that it just seems impossible to get it into gear.

Even when I'm holding the clutch to the floor and trying to shift as hard as I can, it still won't work. It's starting to make me worry something is wrong with the trans or shifter.

Does anyone else experience this problem? Anyone have a suggestion on how I could fix it? Other than getting a new trans, I couldn't afford that until the car is paid off. I'm thinking shifter bracket and shifter might help.

Also, another little problem is that there's a clunk when I shift into second, I can't really describe the sound, but it doesn't sound like it's causing damage, and it's not getting worse, nor better. Does anyone else also have this issue?

Thanks guys

Blowfish facing bracket is what you need. the free floating tranny area flexes so much under load it is a big problem especially after 6,500 rpm. it is like a 300 part but well worth it especially if you are going to drag strip it

All this is VERY common. First you need a better shifter. Barton with the 2 post bracket is the bees knees. MGW race spec is also highly respected. You have to dig around a little and decide what's right for you. This alone will start helping your cause.

Then I recommend a trans bushing insert. Whiteline and Steeda both make this part. I have the Steeda one and I love it.

These will help you start to see what the trans is really capable of. Then others claim a new braided hydraulic clutch hose also helps. I have not done this. But I can tell you with the Barton setup and the trans bushing insert I have zero problems with my trans. There is always the blowfish bracket as well. I don't have exp with this but I imagine it also helps.

Like rapinator said, search is your friend for sure. Once you start reading about others experiences you can make the decisions you need to get your trans shifting better.

You could try a different shifter bracket and see if that helps. If anything, it will clean up some of the slop so it won't be a waste of money.

Some people have experienced a smoother shift feel when swapping the 2 piece stock driveshaft. Sometimes it causes vibration in the shifter.

IF the bracket doesn't help, I would wonder if your clutch is making good contact with the flywheel at those RPMs.

This or the MGW Race spec, only way to go IMO. Body mounted shifter brackets are a large reason the MT82 shifting experience is so terrible.

while mine is "only" the V6 I found motor mounts made a big improvement for my "blocking" issue. downside was NVH
