A Nissan GTR guy says he can beat any mustang you put in front of him

I know a guy with a nodded GTR that makes 1200 HP. He claims he can beat any mustang. I doubt that though. What type of mustang or mods would be able to beat a GTR alpha 12? I was thinking some type of Shelby? But what mods would have to be done to the Shelby?

Who cares, really?

I enjoy my car and I don't care if there's another car faster than it. There's always going to be a faster car. Just go drive it and enjoy it.

only one car can beat every other car....and I imagine the GTR beating a lightly modded GT easily with matched drivers.

There's a fox here that can beat it. But that's a pretty bold statement considering there's some mustangs pushing well over 1500hp

No matter who you are and how much money you've spent there is someone who will be faster.

Ask him for time slips. Plenty of dyno queens that will get smoked by a car making WAAAAAAYYY less power. There are ported Eaton Terminators running 9s in the low 500whp range just as an example of how well a complete setup can work.

If he can't run at least a 9 second 1/4 there are a LOT of Mustangs that would whoop his ***.

Don't forget about a talented driver ... that can make a lot of difference when competing on the track.

Power isn't everything ... a good trio of Power, Suspension & Experience can go a long way.

The GTR is AWD and will hook up much easier than a GT. I drove a 2014 GTR and it was pretty badazz.

I disagree. Those cars are point and shoot. Anyone could jump into one and crank out a fast lap time or run a quick quarter mile.
They are that good!

A GT-R used to show up every so often at the autocross, and he would consistently get Top Time Of The Day on street tires.

I think that a Cobra Jet would probably give your friend grief on a drag strip. And even if he could beat it, he won't be doing it for long... Because sooner than later, those 1200 hp launches are going to turn his transaxle into a Cuisinart!

Bold statement/bold car. I recall coming across some youtube videos of those Alpha package GTRs running like 7 or 8 second 1/4 runs. If I had a car like that I would not talk any smack ever, the car speaks for itself.

Like stated above though, there is always someone faster.

Alpha 12s are fast and for a mustang to beat it (which there are plenty of stands that could in a drag race situation) it would have to be highly modded not just bolt on stuff, we are talking internals, suspension, slicks the whole package. The GTR is also much more expensive. So for the same money you could build a mustang that would compete with it. The GTR will most likely be more street able than the mustang in my opinion. The thing with a turbo car like that is you can turn down boast and drive it to work and turn up and be one of the fastest around.

With a record pass of 8.97, and still streetable daily driver, I would not be looking to beat Mustangs, I'd be trying for bigger and better prey.

Anybody who would make a statement like that is clearly an idiot.

These days, 1200 hp isn't all that much....there are mustangs (and Camaros etc.) all over the country that will shut that GTR down.
This guy is nothing more than an idiot with a big ego and a little dick.

Now that right there was just pure unadulterated BADASSNESS!!!

I wonder what engines that those Mustangs are using though?
I know that BoostedGT runs an LS and a Powerglide.

Is his new setup a LSX? Bc his old setup was a small block ford.

He had that car up for sale a couple of years ago, as a roller, and it was setup for a Chevy engine and a Powerglide transmission.
All of the Mustangs on Street Outlaws are Chevy powered with the exception of Varley's car. He is the only non-heretic.

Foolish thing to say. Now if it was a higher stage Alpha GTR, it has more of a fighting chance. But an Alpha 12, there's quiet a few mustangs that can beat it.

Holy macarel.......he breaks loose when he hits second, and backs off, big time. I don't think I've ever seen any drag car with that kind of top end pick up the front wheels all the way through the lights , and come from behind like that!.....WOW!

That's what I say also! I don't think that I've ever seen anything quite like that.

Hey Guard, that kinda makes you want to just let loose, the next time that some kid in a Civic is sitting there revving at you, when the light turns green, doesn't it?

Well yes and no....it's lots better knowing that you could, and if you did, you would trounce him.........so why even waste the gas doing so?
The GT has got nothing to prove....and if the car next to you could do better than this:
From Motor Trend's test:
The new 2015 Mustang GT accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, and gallops through the quarter mile in 12.8 seconds at 112.2 mph.

Then more power to them (literally!)
