Washing and detailing

As a teen I'm looking for ways to make money. How much do you think I could charge people to wash, dry, vaccuum, possibly wax and clay bar, their cars?

Do you have a portfolio of cars you've done?

A good $170 for medium to small vehicles. $ 200 for large SUV's and large trucks and large vehicles.

I think you're going to have trouble charging people money if you don't have anything to show for. I know I wouldn't give money to someone to detail my car if they had nothing to show. I would just find someone else.

I'd see if you can detail some cars for friends, have them pay you for materials. Get a few nice looking jobs under your belt so you can show people what you're capable of to justify charging them.

I paid around $100 for that and it included shampooing carpets. And that was the guy's full time business. Looked nice after as well.

If I were you, I'd do one and see how long it takes. And then, I'd honestly undercharge. $100 for 4hrs work = $25/hr (say $20/hr if you take out supplies). That's more than my full time job pays. Customers will also think that and while they might be willing to help a kid out, you might prove yourself out of a job.

Of course each car is different. My car was pretty clean and then there's cars like the 05 for $1300 (or something like that) that has the thread on this forum.
