All the reviews I've read are praising the new Camaro, and, MT is biased.

Chevy really improved the new gen Camaro in every way, all Ford did was add IRS to the new Mustang and they thought everyone would be happy.

It certainly is a step forward for the muscle car. Hopefully, the Mustang and Challenger get an upgrade like the Camaro got.

Pick your poison.

No changes for 16. I suspect the next mustang power boost will come whenever Ford gets that 10spd auto they are developing with GM into production. Maybe '17 but more likely '18.

I've read three comparison tests of the SS -- vs -- the GT. Although the Camaro "won" each of them, each test also came to the conclusion which said something to the effect of:

The Camaro:
"Is improved in every way."
"Handles really well, but rides very stiff"
"Is loud."

The Mustang

"Purrs instead of roars."
"Rides better but rolls a bit more in the corners."
"Has a better interior."

And, most important to me:

"The Mustang is the one we'd chose every time to drive across country."

I guess it comes down to........If you want a "sports car", the Camaro is a good choice. But, it'll beat you up on broken pavement.
If you want a GREAT Grand Touring car (they DO call it a GT, after all), then the Mustang is still the best choice.
I can live with that.

About time that one of the big three remembered that bigger is not always better, and heavier is NEVER the answer.

Proving to my fellow racers that the disdain that some GT drivers have for V6 drivers is unfounded, one results archive at a time since 2013.

True, but if you took out all the government mandated equipment, all cars would be a lot lighter.
Not safer of course, just lighter. When you look at all the "stuff" there is on these new cars, its actually pretty amazing they don't weigh more than they do.

I would think some forum of weight reduction, 10spd trans, slight redesign, v6 being axed, and special edition mustangs are whats ahead for the mustangs

Given that most major redesigns like the Mustang just had last at least 5 to 7 years -- it will be interesting to see what Ford is going to massage to interest new buyers. I find it hard to imagine a 10 speed automatic. Wouldn't the top (at least) three gears be overdrives? That would mean, I think, that it would have to downshift to 4th or 5th for passing manuevers?
I hope that they can design it to do that as well as the current one when in the "S" setting. It seems prescient now -- almost perfect.

It looks like GM seriously underrated the HP on the new SS so as not to embarrass the Corvette.
Jalopnic just put an SS on a dyno and it puts down some SERIOUS rwhp numbers -- especially compared to a Corvette:

SS power

Still looking for the 16's to appear on a country hwy near me, had a 15 V6 follow me through the twisty's yesterday as I was experiencing - 1.5 degrees camber, new cc plates by J&M working well with the new Koni sports and BMR lca's . New adj. BMR panhard help the 3-link feel more planted as well. Bring on these new Chevy's!
