changed the oil from a 20 weight to 30 weight

So I just changed my oil from a 20 weight to a 30 weight today, with really good results so far. I live in Florida and it gets pretty hot here, I've always used 5w-20 but I've been reading a lot of threads saying that the 3v 4.6 engine was made for a 30 weight oil and Ford only used 5w-20 so they could meet CAFE standards. I never had any real problems with 5w-20 oil aside from it burning off a bit and the engine being a little noisy. This was until a week ago when I did my regular oil change and went with Amsoil 5w-20 full synthetic. Now I'm not trying to start a war and I know others have used Amsoil with great results, but my GT did not like the oil AT ALL. The car ran very noisy and it felt like something was "off" the whole time I drove with it. It was to the point where I didn't feel comfortable driving my car anymore with this oil in it. Then two days later my passenger side VCT solenoid got stuck in the on position and my timing was off whenever I came to idle. I got that fixed and did an oil change to Castrol GTX high mileage 5w-30 and wow the car runs smoother than I've ever experienced before and the power is all there. I didn't think the heavier weight would make a big difference but it sure does. Has anyone else noticed a big difference with different oil weights? It should be noted that the GTX oil I switched to is not a full synthetic but rather a synthetic blend.

Just wanted to share my experience

You must have some miles on your car to see an issue swapping to a true synthetic oil.

I'm at 125,000 thousand miles now and the car is my daily driver. I didn't mention it but I've been running Castrol's full synthetic edge oil for a long time before I went to the Amsoil. I'm still confused why it didn't work out.

I always hear good things about them too, maybe I'll try them next.
