Whats your mustang story?

What made you decided to get a mustang instead of some other type of car?

Can't stand trucks, mini vans, family sedans, sub compacts or anything that has the pulse of a snail.

Wanted new, wanted stylish, wanted features, wanted a decent price.

End of story, print it and go to bed!

In 1969 I saw this lightly used turquoise 65 2+2 and I had to have. Paid $1600 for it. That was a lot of money for me then. Absolutely loved that car! In 65 when the fastback first came out, I thought they were Boss, Cherry, Kool even. Still think the same. Now at 65 years old we finally have our 14 fastback. Love this one too!

Never owned a Ford (have owned Lincolns and liked them). Liked Mustangs, bought two.

Worst decisions ever.

Kind of a long story. Back when I got my license about 34 years ago, my dad had a 79 Indy Pace car replica and gave it to me . A couple of years later we traded it for a Capri RS ( pretty much an 83 Mustang GT). Wen I graduated and went to work for myself I traded the Capri for a new 86 GT. It was loaded with all the options I could get at the time, including T-Tops. I babied that car and only put about 12000 miles on it in about 18 months.
In spring of 88 I was working the graveyard shift. My younger sister kept pestering me to let her drive the car. I finally relented. I went to bed that morning and was woken up around noon to be told she had pulled out in front of a car and totalled it. Luckily she was ok. 30 years later she pulls up in a 14 convertible and it really pisses me off. I start hunting and 6 months later I find my 12 GT premium.
My wife says mid-life crisis but I say I was meant to be driving a Mustang all along.

Whats your mustang story?

I have had many mustangs over the years. I got my first one when I was in high school. It was a 64.5 hardtop with a 260 auto. I even bought a new cobra II in 1976. My current 13 tvs is a lot faster and is my favorite of all that I have owned. My wife has a 92 SSP

My first car was an 86 lx with the 3.8 v6. I paid 600 dollars for it and it needed a transmission. After I replaced the trans I drove it till the engine gave out. Didn't buy another mustang till ten years later

Growing up I really wasn't a Mustang fan, hell not even a Ford fan for that matter. My family always had GM's. So when it was time for my first car I started looking for 98-02 Ws6's. Couldn't find one I could afford that wasn't completely beat down or salvaged. Just about gave up and was going to settle for a boring 4 door commuter car.

Then on June 6th, 2004 I saw a commercial for the Mach 1. I had to have one, but couldn't afford one. Even got a ride in a Screaming Yellow 5spd my dad's coworker just bought, which made me want one even more but again, could not afford one.

Long story short I ended up with my 03 3.8 instead. Great car, love it, still have it.

Exactly 10 years from when I first saw that commercial I picked up my 04 Mach 1. (June 6, 2014).

Always owned Chevys since the 60's. Currently own a 69 Camaro. Decided to get some modern muscle. Drove the main 3. Camaro, Challanger and Mustang. Very sorry to say the Camaro was my least favorite! Liked the Mustang a bit more than the Challanger. Bought it new in March of 2014. Only drive it on weekends in the summer. More than happy with my "FORD"!!!

In 2010, I didn't consider a 2010 Viper to be 40K more car than a 2011 GT500.
Same thing happened in 2013..

I did driving with an instructor after getting my permit in the driver's ed 2000 GT 'Stang and just fell in love with the car. Everything about it exuded raw power. (To me. I was used to my dad's 92 HP Mirage DE). Little did I know it was a GT though, and bought a V6 I love it either way, though

I never had a new car before I got my '16, so I wanted what I wanted, and wasn't going to compromise. I liked the styling, the horsepower, manual trans, the color, everything. I liked it over everything else I saw from the other car companies.

Was young and stupid and instead of the loaded 626 my parents wanted to sell me for $5k with low miles (basically giving it to me at half price in 2001) I got a ratted out 91 5.0 hatch and was car poor for 2 years buying parts for it before I just said screw it and sold it and ebayed all my parts. Go me... Got a few other foxes to tinker with after that and then finally got a nice one in 2003 in the form of a white 1995 Cobra SVT bone stock with 41k miles. Had a LOT of fun in that car.

There's a stock 1995 Cobra with 82 miles on it not far from where I live for sale. Not 82k miles but 82. Guess how much they're asking?

I actually feel terrible how that car got treated in the end. I mean it was still super nice for a 1995 with 63k miles in 2011 when I sold it but... what could have been.

They probably want like $12-$14k for it. That car is actually worth $7-$8k in stock pristine condition. At most... I'd offer $6k if I was looking at it. They just aren't worth a lot and its ashame because besides the Terminator I'd go as far as saying they are the best of the SN95s. Obviously not including the aftermarket ones like Roush/Steeda/Saleen as the ACTUAL ultimate 94-04 is the 1999 S351.

Old coworker bought his first Mustang summer of 2014. A 2004 GT. January 2015 he upgraded to a 2015 ecoboost Mustang. I ended up buying his old one. Was going to buy a house instead but the mortgage company never got back to me with word on the house loan. Took my money and invested it in the Mustang instead. You can sleep in the Mustang. You can't race a house.

I think it would be really awesome to make a book of everyone's mustang story! Have chapters that are interviews with different people from around the world and why they got a mustang. Even interview people who make the mustang and come up with the design. Why they wanted to work for mustang. What made them come up with these designs! Even track down the first person to ever buy a mustang! I think it would be a pretty interesting book. Could be called "mustang life" or something else.

1990, 17 years old, parents were divorced and I went to dad's for $$. Saw a 67 gt with a Shelby hood in the driveway (for sale sign in the floor), dad wasn't home.. I called him later and said what's that white thing in the driveway? He says, "u punk, u weren't supposed to see that! And u cant have it til ur 18th bday!"

Forward 2 years (and about $1200 in parts)....girlfriends 7 months pregnant, living in the ghetto, get up for her Dr appt, car is gone !! Found it stripped in the hills, everything totalled.week later, notice the guy around the corner has my gloss white door on his off white mustang! Search his home, find the rest of the car. Never was allowed to press charges, insurance wasn't mandatory back then, total loss, sold for $500.

Switched to Torinos for the next 2 decades, until 2010 when I found my 04.

Oh, and I have to mention, my greatx3 grandpa worked for Henry Ford himself, followed by my greatx2 grandpa, my great grandpa, and my grandfather actually met my grandmother at the Ford plant in Kentucky. (Him a electrician, her a secretary). Not sure why my dad stopped the trend lol

Went to the drag strip one night with a few friends and seen these 5.0s waxing ***. Did some research the next day and discovered the coyote. Literally took a shower, got ready and bought my 14 gt that night. Still in love after almost 2 years.

Never owned a sports car, but have always loved Mustangs (my Sport Trac had Bullitt rims). Met a car salesman at a local bar on my birthday and struck up a convo as I had been looking for an F-150. Exchanged emails for about four months while he searched high and low for exactly what I wanted (4 door, 2wd, sunroof, cloth seats, grey or blue). Finally he told me he had the one I wanted so I drove over to check it out. Looked great, except the price; not that I couldn't afford it, just didn't want to spend that much on a vehicle. Seems there was no way to get what I wanted for under $35k.

Rode around the lot in a golf cart when a silver 2012 caught my eye. Upon getting closer, I noticed the white 2013's tail lights sitting next to it. Got in, but didn't turn it on. The saddle leather made the car. Told the guy to work the numbers and get me a price on it. Came back two days later, on a Friday, to take a test drive and discuss prices. Told them I'd think about it over the weekend and get back to them Monday. Did my own numbers for financing and my trade, and countered an offer (September 28, 2015) so they have incentive to meet their monthly goals 😉. Drove to the dealer at 2 and left with my new car at 3.

Still have a beer with my salesman at least once or twice a month. He enjoys seeing the car's progression.

My dad was a big mustang fan but couldn't afford to keep his 67 fastback after having kids. I grew up reading mustang magazines and purchased a foxbody when I was 17. I blew the trans up in that, sold it, and bought a 2000 GT. I modded that and had it for about 5 years before selling it due to a bad engine. After 6 months in Chevy land I traded my Vette in for an 01 Bullitt.
