Adding Sirius...

Ok, so my wife has a 2012 Escape that has Sirius and she doesn't use it. She doesn't even have the subscription any more. I have my 2013 GT that does not have Sirius and I want it. Is it possible to take the Sirius radio out of her SUV and put it in my Mustang and if so, how difficult would that be?

I could be wrong, but if the vehicle came with Sirius from the factory it is most likely integrated into the audio/infotainment system. Also the subscription is linked to the vehicle vin i.d. There might be a way to transfer the inactive account to the mustang but that may be an expensive option.

If you have an actual mobile unit that is separate from the radio you can easily transfer that to the mustang. You'll have to reactivate the subscription.

I have Sirius active on my F150, but it is not equipped on my Mach 1. I called Sirius and they offered me a secondary subscription for $6.99/month and threw in a free mobile unit.
It might be worth calling Sirius and asking them what your options are.

Maybe someone else has done this before and and will chime in.

I thought pretty much all cars were "Sirus/XM" Equipped from the factory in the last almost 10 yrs. If so, just check for the XM/Sirius button on the dash or switch through the inputs to see if it comes up, if so ,just call and activate it.

They may use similar stereos both being Fords but its likely not a direct plug and play and there might be stored activation codes etc...

Also why not just stream via Bluetooth from your phone? No shortage of services to do that and if your carrier doesn't have unlimited data for whatever reason switch to one that does. Or use a streaming service where you can cache the stations to the phone like Slacker.

Just because I give you advice, doesn't mean I know more than you. Its just means I've done more stupid ****.
