Shifter rattling

So I have an 04 Mach. And lately when I've been driving in 1-3-5 the shifter rattles. It also seems to have a lot of slop in those gears. But 2-4 are a nice tight feel with no slop. I've read that these tr3650 have issues like this. I'm gonna do a trans fluid change soon. But I was wondering if anyone else had this issue, Or knew of a solution to this annoying issue

I had a crappy SR on for a little bit. But I switched it back to the stock shifter recently

But does it sound like just a shifter issue or maybe an actual transmission issue?

That is the real question.

Was the cup on the shifter transferred, or is it missing? That could cause a rattle. Without the car in hand it is hard to diagnose.

Do you still happen to have the SR shifter on hand?

Look at the bottom of the shifter. Did the plastic cup stay on the shifter in your closet? If so, pull the OEM off and put the cup back on.

If the cup was transferred as it should be, swap the shifter out and see if that solves the problem.

Started my weekend early. So I had time to take a look at the shifter. Turns out those 2 bolts that hold the shifter handle to the actual shifter were loose. Tightened them up and I'm back to normal. Silly mistake but it's better
