Phone App Vehicle Controls

Read on, I may be about to give away a product idea that I should patent.

I have been searching for an app that would act like a key fob for my 2002 GT. So far I have not found anything. However, my mind is now in overdrive with ideas that might be possible.

I am not a phone app developer by any means, but I am certain it would be easy to develop a simple app that allows the user to use their phone as a remote. My LG has the ability to function as a Television remote, so I think the possibility exists.

I know some new cars are already coming from The factory with app accessible options. On older vehicles the OBDII port may need to be accessed in order to untilize such a feature. Using a plug such as those used by insurance companies could open up the possibilities of locking and unlocking a car. You could operate the windows, have remote start, heat the seats in the winter, or turn on the defroster. The options are endless.

Something tells me that one of you will post a link to an app that is already functional.

Now I am talking to a friend of mine that writes computer programs. We may have a product idea, and a strategy if such a thing is not already in existence.

I may get to file for a patent after all.

I have an app on my phone that coincides with the remote starter that was installed in my wife's car. It starts, unlock, lock, open the hatch.

I want something that will access these abilities on my 2002 SN95 Mustang that has no technology.

The GT was "THE" flagship Mustang in 02, yet I don't have a compass, MPG estimation, exterior temp gauge, etc.

I am baffled by the simplicity of a car that came loaded with leather, yet has no features. My 03 Ram has heated seats, heated mirrors, etc. I will always wonder why Ford skimped on the little luxuries.

My oldest daughter is about to start driving on her own in about 6 weeks. That little device will be installed without her knowledge.

I'm glad this stuff didn't exist when I was a kid.
