I am taking my 2015 Roush RS1 to its first real car show tomorrow. There will be voting and awards handed out at the end of the day and I don't expect to win but the Roush does draw a crowd at Cars & Coffee so you never know.
Car is washed , dried and just needs a good buffing tonight with my detailer spray.
So I am looking for good to know ideas and tips for a car show.
I take it you are going to show it with hood and trunk and doors open? That is where I spent much of my time getting ready for a judged show, as I kept the outside in great condition all of the rest of the time.
I use a flashlight to see where all of the dust and dirt are hiding (especially under the hood) ,vacuum the rugs really well, and clean the INSIDE of the wheels (sometimes I took them off to do this). Look inside the seams of your seats for those little bits of everything that seem to gravitate there. Dust all the vents in your dash so that they are clean.
Don't overshine everything (303 is great for a nice even look to the plastics and tires). Make sure your exhaust tips are nice and shiny. Heck, on my Bassani custom exhaust, the mufflers showed when you looked at the car from the rear -- so I spent some time on my back on the ground with Mother's Aluminum polish shining the MUFFLERS --- yeah, I know.....
And lastly -- look for any wax residue anywhere along edges, inside insignias, or inside the edges of vents etc.....and yes, not only did I prepare my old 97 Cobra for judged shows, I also judged other classes.
I spent more time with a q-tip in my hand than a waxing mitt.....just sayin'.......
Keep the car pointed in a straight line while doing the obligatory post-car show burn out. This will help you to avoid any unnecessary, embarrassing, videos of your car on YouTube.
Agreed! And avoid hitting crowds of people! Don't let someone pressure you into doing something stupid that could hurt that beautiful ride of yours. That's where I see most people running into issues at, or leaving a show.

Is it a people's choice or a real judged show. Lot of difference there. People choice they walk around and pick their favorite color or vote for their friends. A real judged show clean counts big time
How do you guys suggest keeping under the hood area clean....old days you spray on cleaner and hose it off...but I'm sure that's not a good idea now with all the electronics!
I had to rebuff the car when I arrived as it was very foggy on the drive to the show. No big deal.
Lesson learned
1) Yes you need to at least wipe down the engine compartment.
2) Yes you need to put some type of spray on the wheels
3) A sign showing the facts about your car would be a good idea.
4) Properly locating your car is important. I was parked between a 62 Vette and 2014 Shelby GT500.
5) Be prepared for weather extremes-
6) Enjoy the other cars and car owners
7) Mustang owners stick together when voting. I voted for many mustang but I also voted for many of the early muscle cars
8) Don't let ****** bags upset you with their stupid comments.
9) No shame in voting for your own car. I did not do this but will next time.
I have done many big shows with my Camaro such as super chevy shows and such. The biggest thing people over look is attention to detail. I make sure anything with writing on it is facing the same way and can be read from standing in front of the car. Take a toothbrush to all cracks and crevices. Most car show cars are very clean and maintained so it comes down to the details. I once won an award because I had a fire extinguisher and first aid kit in the car and those points put in front of the ones that didn't
