Technically I won the cai on ebay for 28 dollars but I had a 25 dollar coupon for being a new seller so I only paid three. The one I got didn't come with a filter can I use my stock or do I need to buy a different one. 05 gt. Thanks.

Wrong. It will draw in warm air from the engine compartment since it is not a "sealed box" type CAI. The stock setup at least is "sealed", and draws cold air from the outside.
Thanks project pony. I'm on a budget right now and I figured why not. It compliments the red of the car and hopefully get the cold air intake sound of sucking it in when I'm shifting. Does this help with exhaust noise? I have pypes axle back and off road pipe on it noe

A lot of people claim it makes their car sound so much better or even louder. Over many different makes and models of vehicles that I've installed a CAI, I've not once heard a change in the sound of the exhaust. Just a subtle whistle sometimes depending on what your right foot is doing. I think the people that make those claims are just trying to justify a cosmetic mod, at least on a lot of vehicles, that's hidden away under the hood 95% of the time. Probably why some people like the whistle. Gives them an excuse to pop the hood when someone asks what's making the noise. With power gains being usually within the margin of error (not speaking for FI setups as I've seen testing that shows there is more of a benifit in those applications) they will always be in the cosmetic category for me personally. Do I still use them? Of course, even if it's sole purpose on my 04 would be to pretty up the engine bay a little. A couple hundred for a cosmetic mod isn't bad to me, after all I spent a good bit more on those awesome Raxioms...

1) Stock air filter is not conical, it is a flat, rectangular shape, so it wont fit.
2) You'll probably need a new tune to use that CAI unless it is one that doesn't require one. Some CAI's come with an insert to use if you don't plan on tuning.
CAI from AM set the check engine light off on my 07. Keeps running lean on bank one. Took the CAI off, light has not come back on. I read that some times a tune is required, but I ran it for about 3 months before the light finally came on. Not worth a tune to keep it. It does make a cool, almost 4-bbl-ish sucking sound. That's the only reason I run them, besides the looks. I've had them on just about very vehicle I've owned and I never really notice any mileage or performance improvements as modern cars have pretty free flowing and most times true cold air intakes from the factory.
