Corvette Chance Meeting

My wife and I headed down a busy street to pickup some scrumptious Popeye's chicken this afternoon when we came along a red Florida-tagged convertible Corvette Z06. A mid-50's ish couple was enjoying the nice day with the top down. The car, like mine, had just been washed and was looking nice. It sounded nice, too.

As we passed it, rolling up to a red light, I was looking at the Z06 badge. My wife told me to stop looking.

Their lane moved faster than mine and the Corvette passed me. The driver gunned his car twice as he passed. Very loud! Definitely modified!! Ha!

I passed them on the way to the next light. Eventually, they caught up to us and stopped beside us at the next red light.

I turned to them and asked, "Someone having too much fun, today?" We all had a great laugh and the light turned green. Then, I pulled into the Popeye's parking lot.

My wife told me I better not be racing! Lol!!!!

Good for your wife! Keep the racing to the track.

I know how tempting it is to pull up to a nice, clean vehicle, and then want to clean their clock, so to speak. My wife will also look over at me, then remind me that I have a son, a soon to be daughter in law, and hopefully some grandchildren some day. That quickly removes the urge.

Beautiful days in Florida lately for cruising (and others I'm sure). We can enjoy it.

Stay safe.

Which generation Corvette was it? I love the look of the C7's and they are basically production race cars.

I believe it was a C6. I checked a few of these on Google and the C7 convertible did not look like the car I saw. Click image for larger version

To my knowledge there's no such thing as a C6Z vert. Someone must've slapped a Z06 badge on a base model. The "C6 Z06 vert" would be the Corvette 427.

Pick your poison.

Well, I don't follow Corvettes. It had the Z06 badge and a convertible top. It believe it looked like the C6, not the C7. It was surprisingly loud when the driver gunned it.

Whatever the car was, the couple in it was friendly.

The Corvette 427 most likely is what it was if it was in fact a convertible and had the 7.0 engine. The "Z06" has only ever been hard top. But the 427 is essentially a Z06 convertible (technically), just not named or badged as a Z06.

That's true in the case of the C6, but there have been Z06 convertibles in other generations. The C7 is available in a Z06 convertible.

Well. Well. A Porsche gave me a 'rev-up' this afternoon as he passed me on an Interstate exit ramp. Fun times, I guess.
