When a pony meets a pony? What do they do? Do they salute each other? a sign with the hand? like :thumb: or :headbang:? or nothing, because it is not a community or a club, just individuals with nice beasts. just wondering
99% of mustang owners don't even look at me when I'm out in mine. I don't even bother trying to wave with other mustangs. Corvette owners all seem to wave though
The "wave" thing has been a debate for a long time. Started with motorcycle riders and Corvette drivers. Do you wave or not?
My motorcycle riding buddy got so tired of it that he crafted an arm with a waving hand at its end, and strapped it to his back while we rode. This way he could enjoy the ride (what its all about), and not offend those who expected a wave back when they waved.
I try and give all nice cars a sign of respect. Like mentioned it's returned less than given (but I do have a V6).
my daily commute is mostly through a series of small town back roads...I give waves to the LEO's. I hope it'll get me out of trouble. I had started that after they were getting dumped on for the actions of a few bad eggs among them.
Most Mustangs by me are riced out V6 new edges (not hating) driven by high school kids. So, they are not likely to be inclined to wave back at an old bald dude.
I wave or give the high sign. About 35% return. I remember back in the early 70's when riding my old chopped Panhead the thing was the raised fist. That got old fast for me.
gotta shout out from a guy in a vette the other day.he waved as we were stopped at a light.he said the only thing we were missing was a couple of women.with a vette like that he should of already had three women and offering me one of em.moral of the story.....don't be rude and wave back.
I don't wave. But, if it's a nice day and I have my window down, I look at them and if I catch their eye, I'll nod. I usually get a nod back. And that's from anyone with a nice car, not just Mustang owners. Except Camaro owners. They won't even look at me.
I wave, nod, or flash double duces. it's about 50/50 on return. but do agree, most all women snub there nose or don't even pay attention because too busy on phone or doing makeup.

Referring to chOwdOg's comment. I was just wondering what sort of fines people get in the U.S. for being of their phones or doing make up while in their cars. Ours is a minimum of $380.00 and your car doesn't have to be moving. You can be sitting at a red light and if you text or talk on your phone, you can get a fine. I live in Canada and you can get that fine for eating while you are driving, doing make up, even changing your music while driving, though my cop friends say they aren't too harsh on enforcing the last one. I have hands free so I don't have a problem with that law.
Not a ton of other mustangs up here. About a 50/50 for a wave. I never initiate, only respond . If I see an SRT-4 I flip them off, hate them ******* things. I kid, I kid.
On the bike, always wave or give them the nod. Now that I have a Harley I get more nods from the biker crowd apparently lol.
If I'm in my Vette I wave at the other Vette's I see. Get a wave back about 75% of the time. A lot of the C6's and C7's I see are old guys, probably in their 1st Corvette, who just aren't aware of the "save the wave" campaign I guess.
I have a friend who rides a Harley and he'll only wave at other American made bikes. I guess we're both snobs in our respective ways, but I really didn't know it was a Mustang thing.
We used to own a lot of Jeep Wrangler's. Now there's a crowd of people that wave at each other. Especially when we had the tops off. I think we got more waves in our Jeeps than when riding our Harley's.
One Caution for those in Commiefornia, around the some ciities, Los Angeles, San Diego, gangs can perceive some waving as flashing signs. Best not in these areas, unless you like lead flashing back. DO NOT FLASH FOUR FINGERS, THIS IS A SIGN AMONG LAW ENFORCEMENT THAT EVERYTHING IS OK, CODE-4.
I always wave at mustang owners. I passed one on the highway the other day. He had a 15 vert and i just let it rip and he had an earfull. When I got to the red light he was complimenting on how nice it sounded.

I don't wave but I do give my car a few revs. I haven't ran into a mustang that sounds as loud as mine. Not bragging; I've just had the car for 2 months. I'm sure I'll run into a beast soon enough.
I do have a black challenger hellcat I frequently cross paths with on the way back from work. He responds with a couple of revs but we haven't found each other driving in the same direction yet.
Here's a pic of a green hellcat I was trying to provoke but he was some old dude that was not the racing type. I'm curious to see how my car stands up against it. I'm sure he'll win but I'm sure I'll launch quicker. My car is 500+ crank horsepower. It's no slouch.
I typically wave at every Mustang I see. I find that the newer and nicer the car is, the more likely I am to get a return wave. I did have a cool experience recently. My wife and I were cruising around town on a nice evening in my Yellow 15 GT. We pulled up next to a 68 GT convertible with a guy and his wife in it, about our age (40s-50s). We exchanged compliments about each other's cars while the light was red. He was in the turn lane, or I'm sure we would have had a friendly drag to the next light. To me, one of the best parts of owning a Mustang is cruising around with all of the other cool cars on a summer evening.
It's funny how many ricers try to provoke me to race on a daily basis. Just yesterday on the highway, a dude in a corny 1996 corolla. Ridiculous...i could have beat him in going in reverse.
Then a few miles down the road another dude in Ford Econoline delivery van...really?!
My Mustang is a V6 . Just a few waves from Mustangs . Most of my waves are from Camaros and Challengers . I get 'more waves' when I drive my 1991 F150 4X4
